My Seidio Active with cover just arrived. The case itself is very nice and solid just like the one I have on my Gnex. I'm not sure about the cover though. When snapped onto the front of the case, it adds about 50% to the overall thickness. To get it off, you have to loosen three corners to get it to pop off. I will say that using the cover as a stand works well - multiple viewing angle adjustments and it works in portrait as well as landscape.

Just installed the Gumdrop Droptech case on my 12 yo son's 7. I like it so much, I think I'll get one for mine! It fits perfect, and seems to offer more protection than any other case I've seen here. The built in screen protector does not seem to effect screen sensitivity much, if at all. I also like the fact that there are no moving parts. Hit the power button and go. Nothing to fold open, or hinges to fail!

Couldn't be happier with the case quality.

Just picked this up last night. I like the naked look of my N7, so this was a cheap and easy way to keep it safe when taking it out of the house.

Sorry if the pic is huge, can't figure out how to resize it from the N7.

I was looking at the Seido case on their website. Is the cover hinged or does it come all of the way off. I'm wondering where it goes if you are using the tablet without putting it on the stand.

It's not hinged. It just pops off. You can put the case in the cover with the screen facing out if you want but it adds considerable width. I generally just put the cover aside if I don't need it for a stand. I really like the case itself. Feels like it will stand up to just about any kind of drop. The edge of the case next to the screen is raised which makes holding it with one hand nicer - it gives your thumb a good place to rest without having to touch the bezel or accidentally touching the screen.

I'm getting the 32 GB when it comes out and I'm trying to decide on what kind of case to get. I have it narrowed down to types:

Something along the lines of the smart cover that Apple introduced. They're slim and stylish, have the auto-sleep magnet, and fold back flat.

Multi-color Slim Magnetic PU Leather Stand Case Smart Cover For Google Nexus 7 | eBay

And the CaseCrown Ace. It looks like it's really well built and probably offers better protection, but it's bulkier and more expensive. Unlike some similar cases it doesn't have the "hook" that keeps it closed - instead it has an elastic band, which I think I'd prefer. A hook would keep it from sitting completely flat when the cover is folded back.

Since electronics stores don't tend to have either of these exact types in stock, I don't really know what they'll actually be like. What are people's thoughts on these two types? The slimmer kind would be nice and less obtrusive but they just don't seem that sturdy.

+1 for the

Gumdrop

I bought it for my 8 year old.. And he has made a mess with this thing.. That was a week ago.. Today within my 14 day window i took this 8gb N7 back to office Depot and got the 16gb for the same price.. And the pulled the N7 out of the case in front of them.. Not a scratch or smudge on the device.. Oh and you can clean the built in screen protector with windex and a rag.. I feel 100% ok letting my messing boy take off with his N7 and it will come back in one piece..

Any thoughts on what the best available case is for the Nexus 7? I'll hand it to Apple, I do like the SmartCover's design and it's ability to turn the screen on and off as it opens / closes. Is something similar to that available for the N7? I also wouldn't mind something a little more professional looking. What are you guys using and what kinds of innovative designs and features have you seen?

I have the i-Blason case. It has the magnetic on/off and comes in a variety of colors. It's a slim design. I'm very happy with it. It's $19.95 on Amazon.

I have the same case and am also happy with it. One small complaint is that it makes it hard to reach the edge of the screen with my fingers, but otherwise great and the only one I've seen that you can stand up in portrait or landscape.

BTW, there's more listed in this topic:

I have the Poetic Slimline Case. It's great. It does a tad extra than what the official Asus case does. I can't complain. It protects my N7 without adding bulk to it. Most of the cases by Moko, BluRex, or i-Blason tends to make my N7 look like a prop from the 1980s (I believe they were called DayPlanners or DailyPlanners).

I just got this Blurex case (I figured an android tablet needed to be in a green case :). It came with not only the case, but a screen protector (which I probably won't use) and an OTG cable. It is yet another version of the similar case from Moko and YooMee. The magnet in this one finally appears to be exactly the right strength, turning it on and off reliably, but not turning it off when I fold the cover back. It has the nice elastic strap to hold the cover open and the wide strap for slipping your hand under to hold it. I think this is the best version of this case so far.

Amazon.com: Blurex Ultra-Slim Case for Google Nexus 7 inch Tablet -- With built in Multi-Angle Stand + Premium Screen Protector Film (Clear): Computers & Accessories

I ordered the Blurex case from Amazon, $14.99 with a screen protector (which I may not use). It will be here tomorrow, but the reviews I have seen are pretty good.

I ordered the same case and have been impressed by it. Doesn't add much bulk. Haven't used the screen protector. Never been a big fan of them on any device. I did receive an OTG cable with it.

I got the I-Blason slim folio case in black. I love this thing.

It is not too bulky at all, and provides protection where it is needed (specifically on the front, back, and corners). It feels great and looks great too.

The fit is snug, so I don't really worry about my N7 escaping the case into the evil clutches of gravity. I really like that the case wakes up my tablet when opened and puts is to sleep when it closes. Also, I the easel is great.

I'd recommend it.

I received my Gumdrop Droptech yesterday!

After using it for a day I am impressed. Very rugged - thick silicon and a solid, plastic ring. Built in screen protection. Access to all ports and holes for ventilation all in the correct locations.

I would have preferred the interior plastic had a second piece that ran on the bottom as well (similar to my phone's otterbox), but thats my only negative comment.

here are some pics as well!

That case is awesome I think I will def be picking one up! Curious what system monitoring widgets are you using there?

How is the unhinging to open the front flap & the unhinging to prop it up?

Read some reports it is tough to get it open or propped.
