It is an unfortunate design issue that the charging connector is located on the bottom edge and not on the side.
It is very hard to use the tablet while charging. (can't stand the tablet on the bottom edge while it is plugged in...)
Moreover, the cable from the connector comes out on the bottom side, so if you try to use the table while charging the cable is bent at the connector. This will cause the cable to fail very quickly. This could be remedied with the cable coming out of the connector at 90 degrees.
Anyone saw a connector like that?

ASUS are you listening?

The charge port location was designed the way it was to support a dock. Remember, this is the Transformer line of tablets; they're intended to also work with a dock and not just as a standalone tablet. Since the dock supplies juice to the tablet, it makes sense to reuse that same port as the charge port.

Novox, you are right about the charge port location. I was not thinking about the keyboard or dock.
However, I think the idea to have the cable 90 degrees on the charging plug (the one that comes with the tablet) would be a good thing...

Why not turn the tablet upside down? The connector will then be at the top and the screen will rotate.

Actually that's what I am doing. But this works well when the tablet is "naked". Not so well if the tablet is in case that stand. In most of these cases the tablet can only be inserted on way only when the charging is plugged in.

However, I found this stand that should work nicely with the connector plugged in:
