On the people screen where you have the larger pics for your contacts some have a phone icon, others have a text icon and the index card icon.
How can you get them to have the index card ?
My problem is when I touch the pic it calls the person when what I want it to display the options, call, text, email etc...
I know if you touch the bottom bar it does that but it takes some effort to get that right and not call someone by mistake.
Any thoughts ??

Just click the three bar icon to the left of the + sign and then click the name you want to edit, then click the menu and click "edit."

I can't seem to find a fix for this either, frustrating. When you add new people to the favorites widget and click on their photo the first time it asks you what function to use, call, message, email, etc.. After that, it defaults to what ever action you took.

You can add direct people as a shortcut instead of using the favorites widget. As a shortcut you can select to see their contact card as a default, try that and see if you like it. I just didn't like the small pictures of people scattered around the screen.

These are the small icons with the blank head profile ?
If so, I did this and would be ok with it but I can't get them to add the persons picture on the main screen. It adds the pics when you tap the icon and open the file, just no pic on the main page.
I would prefer the larger pics though.

I found that if I set up different groups on my gmail page, using my computer, that I could enter the pic I wanted for each contact. In fact you could set up several different groups using the same contacts. Then back on the Eris, I select the People HTC widget, the different groups you created are listed, select the group you want, family, friends, favorites, etc. and sync with your gmail acc't and you should have the contacts show the pics you installed with your computer.

Hope this helps.

I did sync with gmail and the pics show up on the large people icons no problem but they only show up when i tap and open the small icons. They don't appear on the icon on the main page, just the default blank person head.
And I still haven't found a way to change from the phone to the index card on the large people icons. That would fix this whole issue.

Not quite sure what you mean by small people icons. The pics I installed to each contact on my computer show up on the Eris when I do People Search or Select People app from list of apps. The pictures are all the same for each app. HTC People widget, People program app, People Search app.

I'm not sure where I found them in the phone but after I wasn't able to get the large people icons to do what I wanted I found these and made my own people page.
They look like the blank silhouette icon you see on facebook but maybe a 1/4 inch square with a small grey box below it that says "view john smith" or whatever name it is. When i tap them it pulls up the persons info and gives me the option of what to do next, call, text or email.
Same thing you see on the large people icons that have the index card attached.
I would prefer to just add the index card to the larger icons but that seems to be something no one knows how to do.

It's probably hard for some people, but if you touch the gray bar where their name is instead of the photo, it will take you to their contact card instead of doing the defalt action. Just use the very edge or tip of your finger.

Yea, I know that works but unless you are really trying to just hit that little bar I always call them by mistake.
I have large hands and just touching that little bar isn't easy.
Which is why I want to add the index card to all my contacts.

Funny, the photos show fine for me when small or big? I have my contacts linked to Facebook maybe that is the difference?
