To all ZTE Racer II users. I need your help.
ZTE still not released Kernel Source code for Racer II (Froyo).
It is vital for making custom ROMs.
I think that we must put some pressure to ZTE, as not providing kernel source is direct violation of GPL.
Please send an email to mobile@zte.com.cn, asking them for kernel source.
I sent a couple of emails, but every time I get same reply:
"We are sorry that Kernel Source Code is not available to provide and hope you can understand."

I hope more emails will break "automatic response system", and we will get a meaningful response.

Dear Valued ZTE Customer,
Thanks for contacting us.
We are sorry to inform you that we are unable to provide the kernel source code since it is confidential.
Should there be any further assistance required, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Best Regards

this is their reply to my request for kernel code :(

Hey guys,
I possess as well racerII, but im french. I'll send an E-mail asking for kernel source code to zte. Also I made a romdump of my phone. You may ask why I'm saying this right? Because my phone has no operators (well i dont know how to say it in english but it is not simlocked, i bought it like that with no simcard,
and i updated it to modelabs .02 from ZTE website. If anyone's interested, and if it can help in any way...:)

Hello again...

I've tried sending a request for the ZTE racer II kernel source code, but i got an answer stating that zte wasn't able to give it to me... WTF! I also tried to modify a Cyanogenmod with android 2.3 on it. I used the one one from ZTE skate, and flashed it with clockworkmod, but the phone wont boot, and reboot after displaying the Brand screen (ZTE written in blue on a white screen). How could i manage to make it work? And is it possible to make a kernel dump or anything like this? Using SDK maybe?
For the update it is useless, doesn't change anything, and also a bug appeared with the FM radio apk. I also learned that there existed zte racer II in turkey that runned android 2.3, but were not like our owns... Might be a good idea to investigate in that direction...

Ok got some news. No answers from ZTE, the update is not working, but you can apparently get the kernel source code through unpacking the boot.img (which is what i'm actually trying to do), and there's the ramdisk configuration as well in that file. For instance i'm trying to unpack this boot img, but yet can't manage it. I'll come back as soon as possible with any news

I extracted the boot img and guess what i found!
So i'm not so good at making kernel or boot img thats wwhy i need some1 to make me boot image
for gingerbread
heres the link of the extracted folder
zte racerkerne.zip - 4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download - hacker drkackovski

Oh my god! I've been desperatly waiting for that moment for months!! Thank ya bro'. But the problem is: What needs to be done next? And that's what Im going to look for. Maybe have a look at Android SDK tutorials and all that, ask modaco, and look up on internet, but it is going to be tough for a noob like me who can barely script html5 Mouwahaha! :D
If I find something, it'll end up here of course! :)
Have a good day all!
