Has anyone messed with them yet?
I can delete the stock ones, it falls back to the stock ANDROID boot animation.
Which i might add is magnitudes of improvement over the Boost diamond.

I have not yet had any luck putting any different ones in, doesnt brick the phone its just black after the hydro logo, then suddenly POOF here's phone.

Good part about that is i know its trying to use mine, not sure if they are too large, or wrong size etc.

Guess i'll have to play around with some png images and see what works

Ok replying to myself but i have made a working boot animation.
I can turn virtually any animation found online into a working one for the hydro
as long as i cant rip the image apart (on flashable ones) to get to the PNG file
Size doesn't seem to matter, ive got a 22mb boot animation in now.
longer animation longer boot but eh.

I have a messed up frame someplace that kind of makes a flashy effect in the 1st half of the animation but im lazy to look through 400 frames, i'll just redo it if i keep this animation

Ok now some info
1) Phone must be rooted, and you need a file manager that can mount root and read AND write

2) Boot animation MUST be named bootanimation.311870.zip

3) Zip file MUST be uncompressed (store mode in winrar)

4) Size of png files must be 320X480

5) png files must be named startup_##.png (startup_02.png etc)

6)your zip file MUST have a Boost1 and Boost2 directory and a desc.txt file
desc.txt looks like this
320 480 45
p 1 0 Boost1
p 0 0 Boost2

Ok tools i am using aside from phone being rooted
Infanview (FREEWARE) to batch rename and resize png files
Winrar (NOT FREE) to pack everything in a non compressed zip file

Im converting the galaxy nexus animation now to test.
when my webhost is done farting around in maintainence i'll upload some finished ones

I also need to work on optimizing the file size of the png files
coaw.gif

rails.gif

droid+race.gif

all gifs above at very reduced color

My webhost is having issues, i will put up some download links when they fix it

I can't seem to get it to work. I had it working but it was too short, so i tried to extend it and then it didn't work. I decided to get a whole new gif altogether and haven't got it working since. I know all my .png files are the same size and i believe are numbered right( startup_001.png -- startup_177.png). I noticed your post does not include WHICH folders to put in pictures, wich i've learned makes a difference to the phone. Could you possibly show us an example .zip for demonstration? I think it could clear up my problems and any future problems for others...

(P.S. New to the forums as this is my first Android and i LOVE IT:D. So sorry if i missed something.)

okay I played with it and found most of the same things out for myself as well but I did learn something else though I still believe that the name is something to do with the Boost Mobile version of the phone. The folder names actually only have to match what is in the description. You can actually change the folder names as long as they reflect the same in the desc.txt file. I renamed the stock sprint animation to the same name as the stock boost animation to test the theory and it worked. And no the folder names are not the same in both zip folders but the folder names match the desc.txt name. Anyway I plan to make a few myself. Still a pretty good tutorial I might go a step or two further on one if it was me still very nice investigation of it.
