Help How to change background colour and font on email app

Hi,
Can anyone advise how to change the black background/white font and the font size on the email summary on the S3. The emails themselves are fine but the Inbox summary looks bad - too large and would prefer white background / black text.

Thanks!

Go to settings -> power savings -> uncheck "background colour". That should do it.

that will not change the main email to white background/black text. I have my power savings off, if you turn 'power savings' on, then when you OPEN an email it changes the background to black/text to white. If you uncheck "background colour" it will keep the email background white/text black .... but all the other power saving options remain the same.

we are looking to change the black background/white text in the MAIN EMAIL screen(where you can scroll up and down to see all your recieved emails). Can anyone help with this ???

thanks greatly

But how can the font size be changed. Mine is too large (in the inbox listing). Changing the font size in the global setting to small or tiny does not affect the email app. I cannot find a setting inside the email app.
A friend with an S2 (T-mobile ICS 4.0.3) has a setting->font inside the email app, but it seems to be missing on the S3.

I use the gmail app instead of the default email app on the phone. I like it better except I can't get a darker background or more contrast to the app. white background, with lightly colored text and the new messages are only slightly bolder. Unless I'm just not seeing it in the options somewhere.
Anyone else using gmail app that has found a solution to this?

My phone started off with the White background/Black text. Now I have Black background/White text. I don't know how it changed and I'd like to change it back.

It doesn't appear that there is a way to shrink the font size on the MAIN SCREEN of the email apps. It looks stupid.

I am a Hotmail user so I installed the Hotmail app from Microsoft and it seems to work fine. It gives me a black background and white text, which I guess is good from a power standpoint. Also has the nice boxes beside each email in the inbox so you can just check check check check then hit Delete....

I also saw "AquaMail" on the app store but haven't tried it as Hotmail seems to work. It had lots of good reviews and said its new. Unfortunately the free version puts a "sent by AquaMail" watermark on everything so you have to pay 6 bucks for the paid version or live with it, it seems.

I am not a "geek", but I had the factory set black screen with white font on my new Galaxy S III, and promptly got rid of it. Hope this helps:

1. Tap on Email
2. Open any Email in your inbox
3. Press Menu button on lower left quadrant
4. Scroll down to "Background color"
5. Pick favored background color and press OK

P.S. I spoke with Samsung, and there is no way to increase the font in Email.

It is just vey confusing, that the S2 4.0.3 has a setting for adjusting font size in stock email app and the S3 4.0.4 does not.
Also gmail is not an option as I have several different IMAP accounts (I think gmail can only do google accounts, right?)

It may have moved.

If I am in my inbox and press the menu button I can change to font size there. It's the same on my friends S3 though he is now on JB too.

I have a SG S3, yesterday I updated to Jelly Bean and my native mail application reseted to the black background settings with white letters.

Before this upgrade I did have the option to set it as I want, and I was using white background with black letters.

It looks as now the option is gone, I have no idea why the developers would do something like this, but is very disturbing... I do hope the option will come back eventually.
