Audio on the Galaxy Note 2

This. Beats is awful and anyone that knows audio will tell you that. Stop buying into the name...

Monster itself makes fairly decent stuff, but beats are just all bass, no mids or highs. People buy them to look cool. I'm in college now, and they sell them in the bookstore (the actual headphones, not the earbuds) and you can defer them against financial aid, and 99% of people on campus have them, and I just laugh at them all. lol

I'm no audiophile and have long passed the age where I have to concern myself with looking cool. I enjoy my beats and have no problem saying I like them because of the base.

The bass really isn't the problem with them. The problem is they are insanely overpriced. You can get far better headphones for half the price of Beats.

Anyone interested in headphones should check these Sennheiser headphones/buds out. They range from $25 to $3,000.

But if you want great value for the money then these are legendary in the audiophile forums...

Those $20 headphones sound much better than my best friends $300 Beats, no contest.

Beats may be overpriced. So are a lot of things we choose to spend our money on. I bought them because I wanted them. I wasn't out bargaining shipping or trying to save a dollar. Not sure why people like slamming others when THEY don't like a particular product or brand.

Yep, if people want to buy Beats and enjoy how they sound more power to them. I've no problem with that. Suits me fine, lets me sit on the bus with my $1400 headphones secure in the knowledge that a thief will go for the guy wearing Beats :)

I wonder though how many would go for Beats if they'd heard the awesome kind of bass you get out of stuff like the HiFiMan HE-400 (@$400)?

LOL!!! I don't ride the bus.

Yeah, I never understood this obsession with bashing Beats headphones. It seems like most of the time, people bash because of the price.

I have a pair (of the big ones) and I like them. I am not ashamed of that.

Whether something sounds good or not is up to the listener of the music, not so-called and self-proclaimed "audiophiles" - whatever that is.

Yes, generally bashed for the fact they are well overpriced for the sound quality they offer (which suits some people fine as you say).

No, sound quality is quite measurable in fact, and compared to many other headphones in their respective price brackets Beats headphones perform fairly miserably.

Taste in sound is subjective, and Beats runs to some peoples tastes, but that isn't the same thing.

Ah. That's interesting! Thanks for the link. I like to learn new things!

They're actually put through audio tests in sound engineering labs on review sites and forums. It's not just an audiophile opinion, there's scientific ways of testing audio gear.

People buy Beats for image alone, the end. Sorry if I have offended anyone - it was not my intention, was just trying to give advice and steer people away from buying extremely overpriced stuff.

You beat me to it, didn't read the thread. Thanks for saying it for me so I didn't have to sound like an asshole. Beats are indeed miserable and would be a ripoff at $50 let alone $300. Beats are all just a marketing ploy and they suckered you guys in real good. Bose audio stuff are another prime example of a ripoff although they're a little bit better the Beats I suppose. At least you'll know next time...

;)

PS: Sound is indeed subjective to the user but I'd but my house that anyone who bought Beats didn't even listen to them first let alone try anything else in the same price range.

Skull Candy

:puke:

Monster itself makes fairly decent stuff

No they don't. They make $150 HDMI cables that perform the same as tin foil. There was a test between shoving tin foil into the sockets and their $150 HDMI cable and no one could tell the difference. Monster and everything they make (Beats ect) are pure trash.

I'm not offended by a stranger's opinion on the internet.

But what you said is not true...especially for this buyer. I'm a 38-year old mother and wife. I can give a hoot about image. I leave that for the young people.

I buy what's good to my ears. If I want to pay a premium, that's my choice because my enjoyment is priceless...so to speak.

But say that I wanted to buy for image. And what?

ETA: Pardon me if I said too much on this. I just can't stand when someone belittles or is judgmental about another adult's purchases.

1) You did buy them for the image and the marketing they have. If not, tell me what other headphones did you try in that price range?
2) You don't buy electronics for an image.
3) If you're happy (like you said) then that's great. Just know you that you overpaid tremendously for the sound quality they have.
4) It's pointless for me to argue with someone who is clueless about audio equipment.
5) I'm not belittling, I'm giving advice to future (and current) buyers so people don't get ripped off and have buyers remorse when they find out their $300 headphones are not half as good as a pair of $50 Sennheiser headphones.

Leaving this thread now forever because this is getting stupid.

Good day.

Test or no test you seem to be very opinionated of the product and the people who buy them yet you mean no offense. Why the need to pass so much judgement?

Wanting people to not waste their money is great but at the end of the day it's their money and their choice of what they choose to spend it on.

You said you bet whoever bought Beats did not listen to them first. You can't possibly know that. I'm listening to music with my ears not yours and the type of music I like may be very different from yours.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but you have to realize it really is just that....your opinion. Count your pennies and buy that really great sounding $20 headset. I'm not going to trash your choice.
