anyone try the new pancake 2.1 rom?

I have been holding out on flashing a 2.1 rom...but I really like pancake 1.5 rom...anyone running this or try it out yet?

I am sure it would be a great rom. But here is the simple truth. 2.1 is not 100%. Nor will it ever be until the OEM 2.1 from sprint comes out.

I have been trying all the 2.1 roms since they started coming out with video etc, and they just make me switch back to my 1.5rom after a day or two. Are there fixes? Sure there are, but not for everything. There will always be something messed up. Don't get my post wrong, I am glad there are dev's that can produce dang near to 100% 2.1 roms, and props goes out to them, but 1.5 is the only stable, 100% working on everything rom you will find for our phones.

For that matter, I am running Chocmatic's 1.5v3 based off pancake, and all I can say is, WoW. Battery life is unparalleled to ANY rom I have ran, 1.5 or 2.1.

My battery use to last 10 hours max, now it last dang near 24 hours, and this is with moderate use. I also have the radio update applied, whether that helps or not. But again, this is all IMO. Lots and lots of people are very content with how the 2.1's are running. I just want it to be perfect no worries, and there is nothing out like that for a 2.1 rom.

Hey choc...I couldn't get your 1.5 rom to work on my phone...The bluetooth audio and music player would not work with my phone and car deck...I am very interested in your 2.1 rom....could you tell me what issues it has. I have been holding out on flashing a 2.1 rom but I am thinking about yours or the new pancake 2.1
It has the same issues that damages rom does..i just clean it it up some etc..i put fix instructions up for the widget. Im working on a flipz versions with new taskbar etc

Thanks..damages is a lil faster, but flipz version works better..not a huge diff though

Damages is working great for me, and since another user (tkirton) modified the apps2sd script I am always around 140MB of internal storage available even after installing about 25 apps to this point. I do plan to give flipz rom a try though, because I like playing with this stuff and learning.

I agree it's all a matter of opinion and preference. By all means people should use what works for them. For me, the latest damages rom works perfectly for me. The one or two issues it had, I resolved them in less than a half hour. I get anywhere from 18 to 30 hours battery life, depending on usage. With apps2sd, I have installed many apps and my available internal storage remains high (140MB out of a max of 160MB). And it's as fast as it gets, even with apps2sd running.

I can't remember both offhand. I know one was the long FB sync time. I don't have many FB friends (maybe 30 to 40), but it was taking hours and still not completing. Someone mentioned it could be wi-fi related, so I turned off my wi-fi and the updates completed almost instantly. Oh yeah, the other issue was protected apps in the market, but that was with the earlier versions of the rom. Version 2.05 resolved that (except for a few paid apps).

Okay, I figured those were the two but just wanted to confirm.

FYI. I have posted up my latest rom on my blog. It's based off of Pancake 2.1a. Sorry, I have no screenshots. I will post some later today.

What works:

Marketplace (you should be able to see all apps)
Cachemate, quickboot and wifi-tether should also work
The return of the N1 bootscreen

Chocmatic Blog

Note: I know that Damage just released V2.06 of his sprint ROM. I'm hoping to start customizing it tonight or tomorrow.

Enjoy
