Last Saturday i received two new SG2 to replace units that had problems from the start, about 3 months.
Within a day both updated to the newest gingerbread.UVDLE
ive noticed two things now, when i press and hold the power button, the phone just turns off, i dont get a menu/choice.
The second thing is the lock screen.
The old phones allowed me to set up a "lock screen wallpaper", when the phone when to "sleep" and i pressed the power button, the lock screen wall paper would appear and i could simply slide it out of the way to accesss the home page.

I found a picture in my gallery and "set as" lock screen wallpaper.
In settings/location/security/setup screen lock i get the following choices:
None
Pattern
PIN
Password
I set up the pattern just to see if it works , and it does not.The phone goes to sleep and i press the power button, the home page appears, no lock screen or pattern screen to unlock the phone.

Is anyone else having these issues?

In regards to the lock screen.
I took the phone up to a Tmo store yesterday.
Kid there was astounded i had gotten this update, "hes been waiting".
HE said this update was form Samsung, not form Tmo, but i doubt that since it came OTA and not though KIES.
anyway, he had no clue why the sliding lock-screen didn't work. Finally he offered , "lets try a factory reset".
settings/privacy/factory reset
so it ran and sure enough, when it rebooted the sliding lock screen was back.
Granted o had to personalize the phone so to speak as the reset puts it back to "out of the box" state.

One other thing that was back as well was the options when i press and hold the power button. Just after the update if i held the power button the phone just powered off. Now i get a menu with a choice between
power off
silent mode
airplane mode

I think sometimes settings get messed up - to make it parallel to a computer (which phones now are) sometimes the computer can get so messed up that it needs to reinstall the os. Especially with windows that is true - I think with Mac it just works which is what their advertisements are all about and with Linux once you find a stable state you can carry it into the next century but regardless. Still when you factory reset your phone it should clear any type of problems that may be in the code and return it back to it's original state (hopefully the original state did not have too many bugs). I have had to do it a couple of times in the Galaxy S2 and numerous times on my HTC Evo 4g (that phone was crap tho) :)
