Verizon Note 2 Pre-order, Release date, and speculation thread

I guess I will have to suffer with my iPhone for a bit longer than I wanted too. I've done research in my area and the only one that has good service is the d bag red guys. So I'm def stuck until I move away from this area. I'm starting to really despise droids!!! I've contemplated with switching to sprint and TMO but I've haven't had good memories with TMO and sprint just won't work :(

What happened? I remember from some of your post the Note 2 was partially in your hand. You even bought accessories.

During that time I thought that Verizon had change but they haven't so I'm still patiently waiting for my device. I have bought many accessories and still buying more lol. I did get to play with one at TMO until my bf had to prey me away. I felt a bit of PPD. Almost jumped shipped too but I had to stay with Verizon :(

I wouldn't go that far. It's a 440ppi extremely high grade display and quad-core Krait processor that should test better than Note 2 in most tests. The 5" even display size means it will be a TINY bit easier to use one handed. The real weaknesses will be battery and mSD expansion only compared to most other devices. Moto has the mSD and bigger batteries, while S3 is battery upgradeable and mSD. The display will probably be nicer than the Note 2 in quality if not size. The bezel on the device seeming might even be a bit better than Note 2. That is huge for one handed use as you goto 5"+ displays.

The Wacom digitizer stuff is ONLY available in the Note 2, so not really something you can expect to see in other devices right away. I am guessing others are licensing it and planing devices with it, but the lack of apps and built in android functionality means it's not just a hardware thing you are doing as it requires lots of effort on the software side also for it to be competitive with samsung.

Fwiw, the DNA does have an SD slot

I hate to say it, but the DNA is a better "phone" than the note 2. It has more powerful hardware, a higher resolution screen, and slightly more ergonomic feel. What makes the note 2 better overall and more desirable ( in my opinion) is the s pen features and true multitasking feature. This is a case where one wins on paper while I think the other will have the better all around package and user experience. That's my 2 cents at least.

The DNA does not have more powerful hardware. It only has the 1080 screen over the Note II.. and even that is debatable as an advantage. In every other spec is is slightly behind the Note II.... with the exception of the battery in which it is seriously lagging.

The processor will be better, quad A15 vs. quad A9, and the video chip. For those that don't want an SPen, it should be a great phone "IF" it is 2500. At 2050, I will be a disappointment I think.
For the majority of people, it will probably be a better size than the "giant" note 2. The battery, if 2500, will be the largest out there less the Razr and Razr Maxx, right?
Besides, it's a phone, not a phablet. It doesn't try to be a phone/tablet cross breed like the Note 2.
P.s. I do have a note on order, but I do think the DNA will rock.

I'm re-thinking my original desire to get the Note 2. Maybe I should wait just a little longer and get the iPhone 10.....

That's good. Guess that's based on the J Butterfly? Didn't know such specifics were released on the DNA, but didn't realize the J Butterfly had deviated from the One line in this respect. That's a good thing.

Now we just need HTC and Moto to do some Wacom licensing or something similar. Really like the capability that adds on the Note 2.

Krait is more powerful per core than A9 in the Note 2. It will be faster in this respect even though both are quad. Adreno 320 is probably also a bit better than the GPU in Note 2. Not by much though and nothing like the GPU's Apple is using.

On the screen, my guess is that the 1080 screen will be marginally better. It should be clearly more sharp and I tend to find LCD color reproduction more accurate and appealing, if less colorful than AMOLED.

Still the Note 2 is a different category of device sorta with the extra screen and wacom.

We'll have to wait until it's announced to be sure i guess, but a couple of sites have already reported that it has expendable memory, but yes that's probably an assumption based on the j butterfly having an SD slot. Battery was reported as being 2500 instead of 2020 like the butterfly by those that leaked the earlier photos, but again we'll have to wait and see.
The good thing about it being released on the 20th is that reviewers will be able to put the battery life to the test before the gnote 2 is released so we can all see how it performs in that regard, since that will probably be a major deciding factor to those of us waiting on the note. I for one don't think i can give up the s pen for it, but at least i can check it out beforehand now.

Not sure if anyone caught this but maybe [hopefully] the phone will ship a little earlier then 11/27. i went on the vzw site tonight hoping to find an earlier ship date. i took a screen shot and i am hoping vzw is giving us a little hint [probably wishful thinking on my part ] but nevertheless take a look

I don't think Verizon thinks like that.... clever, that is. It would be a nice surprise if they suddenly announced this week that it will be released in stores on Thursday.

The rep I spoke to yesterday in-store did comment that they hadn't even had training on it yet. It would be nice if they at least confirm the release date this week though. We are due for a trickle of news on the Verizon release.

As mentioned, we "lucky" VZW customers do have time for the official specs, battery life test, screen test, etc, since we won't have our phones till the 27th, then 14 days on top of that for returns.
I would think this device does have the all important name "droid" and thus will have preferential treatment on VZW.

I think on Tuesday when the DNA gets announced, Verizon might release some more info on that other big phone.

Droid DNA - release date approx. 11/20/12 for 199.99. I think there won't be any preorders for this phone.

I went to an actual AT&T store today. (not a "authorized retailer")
Had a real Note II out on display, played with it for ~6 mins, then it died due to that stupid "security charger" thing.

Also, at the Verizon store today, you should have seen the looks on the employees when I tried to use Android Beam between an LG Intuition and a Galaxy Nexus (hint: it didn't work).

P.S. Woo no school for me tomorrow and then only two days next week. (Vets day and Thanksgiving)

Adreno 320 is probably also a bit better than the GPU in Note 2.

Unfortunately the 320 blows the mali-400 out of the water. It's the only GPU that can run the new Egypt HD at 30 FPS (aside from apple hardware). Knowing HTC, however, they don't even utilize a fraction of the SOC power. Since Samsung does their SOC design and fab in house along with their software, the note 2 should have a better overall integrated system.

I don't think the DNA is better than the Note 2 in any respect really except the display, and even then it's a "marginal" increase.

Apparently it has a removable MicroSD now, but still no removable battery. The processor bump really doesn't mean anything except in benchmarks, the phones will pretty much perform the same...I doubt they're holding off on the Note 2 for the DNA bc they really target different submarkets.

They're still printing several more Verizon Wireless logos on the sides, the front top, and implanting them into every digital page on the device

:p
