Help HELP PLEASE!!! HTC Desire HD NOT UPDATING SOFTWARE?!

Hey guys! My HTC Desire HD is not updating its software. I haven't been able to for a long time and I still haven't been able to find a way. Please help!

When I check for updates under Settings>About Phone, it just tells me no updates are available. My phone is still on Android Version 2.2.

What am I supposed to do?? Anything will help!

PS. I'm not very tech-savy when it comes with androids so please use simple english terms

Where did you get your phone from?

Who is your carrier?

hmm I bought the phone by itself without a contract but I'm with Rogers. A friend of mine bought the same phone without a contract as well but he was able to update his software. I don't think he's part of Rogers though, would that be why he is able to update?
I didn't go to Telus or Rogers because I bought the phone by itself as well.

When you boot up, do you have an animation other than the htc one?

Download the cid checker app and tell us what it says...

If you can't get the update OTA, you should be able to get it via a RUU and gold card

Yeah it's only the HTC logo animation.

Unlocked phone from Canada. He should be able to get the update via OTA. Strange.

I don't think he's part of Rogers though, would that be why he is able to update?

My second question, what carrier you are on became irrelevant because your phone is not from a carrier.

so I ran the CID Getter, gives me a page of numbers :S what is it that you need?
I can't screen print it, I've tried. (on/off button + home soft key doesn't work)

on the top, there's:

[CID is: ]: [HTC_044]

in red.

do you need anything else?
