Is the Rise worth switching too?

HELL NO. Unless you like to have your phone restarted everyday. Get something other than this phone.

I wish i still had my optimus V because its been good to me.

Good quality music through the headphone jack. But not for the RiSE.

This thing wont get ice cream sandwhich.

It sucks.

what are you talkin about? lol my phone came stock with ICS so i know you can flash to it if you're using an older OS. my phone never reboots :/ there was a time when it would shut off occasionally but with a few modifications all that has stopped. when does your phone restart?

on topic. i love my rise. no it's not a nexus or galaxy. it's a lower end phone with not many active users. in terms of it being a good phone i'll say it is. i don't have a single problem with it. i wouldn't mind a faster cpu or bigger screen but those minor issues aside it's reliable and easy to mod and hack.

I'd say it's a good step up from the OV. I've experienced the restarts a few times, but I expect bugs running stock software (and yes, this phone comes out of the box with ICS.)

I will say though, that if your budget is higher, I believe RadioShack will have the One V on sale for $100. If $30 is all you have though, I'd definitely recommend the Rise.

I have to force restart when i try to turn on the wifi through the power widget because it freezes when i turn it on.

Then it restarts randomly out of nowhere on some days.

i only use the power widget to make sure everything stays off. use the wifi toggle widget from droidmania in the app market. eats less resources on the desktop and is much simpler for someone who is constantly turning on/off :)

Sorry I didn't see this thread earlier, and already started a new thread.

Any former optimus slider users out there now using the rise? Is it worth it for $30? How does the keyboard compare?

keyboards are identical. the rise has Android 4.0 and the optimus has 2.3 so the rise wins there. Rise has 1024mh processor and the optimus has 800 so yea go with the rise.

My biggest issue with my V is the space issue...I have thought about rooting, but I am scared to do it and screw up the phone. I mostly use it for email. FB, txting and some basic apps like Kindle, TinyPlayer, and a crossword app.

If your Opt V still operates okay, then I would suggest rooting. The Opt V has a large development community which opens up a lot of options. Also it is pretty hard to brick the Opt V. Read up on the rooting process, but I highly recommend it.

Only reason I am considering switching from the Opt V is that I am starting to have issues (hardware).

Good Luck!!

Agreed! I just got it on Tuesday and I can not believe the memory it has, I have downloaded so many apps and still have 70+% left still. ICS and keyboard. WAY better than the V hands down.

A couple of other nice things are the eco-mode, and the light sensor (auto briteness), helps give this phone excellent battery life. I wish the Elite and Slider had a light sensor.
