Help Phone Turns On and Off By Itself

Recently I dropped my phone after being bumped into by my niece, 2 weeks ago. Ever since then, my phone has been turning on/off by itself at random times. For example, I will be texting a friend and it will turn off, and start buzzing multiple times trying to turn itself back on, usually after a few minutes the Android screen and set-up will turn on and boot itself up, but sometimes the screen cuts out. I have done a factory reset, thinking that would help the problem and it was going good for a few hours until it turned off by itself again. I got my S2 in February and I do have warranty. Does anybody have any advice to help me with? Do I have to get a new phone? Thanks in advance to any help I should receive!

Sam.

I've been having the same problem. I did a factory reset, have taken the battery out several times, and the power button feels completely normal when pressing it.

Possible that something has somehow gotten underneath the button that is occasionally shorting the button? This issue happens nearly every time I press the power button, after about 5 seconds or so.

Hi hobocop. Its hard to say what it may be. If you have some compressed air try blowing around the power button.

Is it under warranty?

If it has been powering off and on after dropping it then it is most likely going to be a hardware issue where something is physically not right with the phone. This issue can sometimes be software related as well though. Check out Android phone powers itself off and on, for some tips and tricks.

In your case since you checked the power key already I would check your battery leads/prongs. Make sure the phones battery is nice and snug in the battery compartment and make sure that those metal leads are connecting properly.

If the leads on the battery or phone are bent then they might be disconnecting and reconnecting, removing power and supplying power, making the phone power off and on.

Check your case too. Make sure that if your case was damaged that it isn
