If anyone here that's like me and feel they got screwed at the opening window to order yourself a Nexus 4, fear not! It is not sold out! atleast i dont think it is.

Hit the refresh button on the nexus 4 page 15 or so times, and that blue "notify me" button will magically turn into "add to cart"! and i was able to place my order at around 4:47 PM!

all credit goes to these guys! Nexus 4s Are Not Yet Sold Out; Here

Well I placed my order extra early at about 11:45am in the US and my order got kicked out about 15 times. When all was said and done Google had 3 orders placed for me. Luckily I was able to cancel the other 2 because I was still within the one hr cancelation window.

Either way, Google needs to be better prepared for they're device releases.

I thought so too at first, but then again, this phone is a big deal right now, $299 for an unlocked phone with amazing specs, is enough to make the not so tech savy consumer's mouth water over this. and with thousands upon thousands trying to place an order, its no wonder why the checkout was a pain in the butt.

Persoanlly I don't buy that at all. It's a niche phone for a niche market (not to imply that Android is a niche market but this phone I think is geared more towards the Android enthusiast). Also, it's not like the phone didn't have it's fair share of detractors with no LTE, no removable storage and no removable battery. How many Joe Consumers really care about vanilla android or don't mind paying full price for an unsubsidized phone? Not many I'm sure. I give Google no slack for the way they handled this. That being said, MY order went smooth as silk. :D

You probally underestimated it like most. When i saw the nexus 4 google +1's jump from 6k to over 9k in less than 2 days. That must say there is some demand.

A vanilla based Android phone is becoming more and more popular! I'd say if ever there was a time for Google to really make a giant splash it's now... People Are excited to say the very least...

Even if I did underestimate demand, that's beside the point IMO. I'm Joe Nobody, not a multi-billion dollar company launching the latest iteration of my flagship device. I'm as big a Google apologist as anybody but how this roll out is deamed as anything other than an unmittigated disaster I don't know.

Popular rumor had it launching at Midnight Pacific and tacitly verified by a few Googlers. A call to Google Play Support after Midnight confirmed a 9 a.m. later that morning. Why couldn't they have made that public before, especially for the East Coasters who stayed up until 3 a.m. Then what do they do? They deek everybody and release it 1/2 an hour early. Those that waited till 9 were left high and dry. Many of those that were hip to what was happening experienced endless amount of errors while trying to purchase. And let's not even talk about the problems placing orders in Australia and the UK and short supply.

If you aren't happy with Google, then don't buy the phone

Yes this is the conundrum. Do you cut off your nose to spite your face. Certainly Google won't notice a thing if you don't buy their phone but you, on the other hand, could very well end up paying more money for an inferior device and for what? B/C you are trying to make a point? Now if EVERYBODY did that, then you might be able to send a message but alas, everybody won't do that.

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with complaining about the way Google handled the release while still forking over my money to them. I don't happen to agree with the other poster that there is some evil plot, I just think they did a horrible job. I didn't have a problem personally but I feel for everybody that did.

In the UK the message is quite clear

You can certainly keep bashing F5 but I wouldn't put my hopes up. In fact, it seems that more people lost out than actually got one so even if there is a second round, I guess this would be a similar problem.

Just ordered myself a S3 as I sold already my iPhone and I don't support people selling the N4 on eBay for twice the price.

To those saying Google did a horrible job, I have to agree! This release was not handled right at all IMO! If I had to guess I'd just have to say they weren't prepared for so much response and demand for the Nexus 4, but that excuse is mute to me at this point because I feel that after the demand was so high for the Nexus 7 they should have been much better prepared.

I was one of the East Coasters waiting with a slew of others for the 4 to go live at 12am Tues, then 3am, then 6am, them 8am, then luckily a few posts came up on here at 11:30am that said the page was live...That's when the real fun began!

I'm not kidding when I say the ordering process for this phone was a seriously stressful experience to say the very least, my order was kicked out about a total of 10 times and I can't even tell you how many errors I got before almost saying forget this whole idea. Then after about the 9th time I was greeted with the error of my order saying there was no more stock for the 16 gig model, at that point I was going to just settle for the 8gig, and after that order was kicked out I just Kind of said this is just crazy and way to much time had been wasted! Anyway about 10 minutes later I received an email saying Thank You for your order? Lol, that was the 1st of 3 emails that I would receive saying Thank You for your order, Google placed 3 orders for me somehow even though I kept getting knocked out of the buy it now page?

So now is when I really started to dig into this and thankfully was able to cancel 2 of my 3 orders without having to really deal with 3 separate orders shipping out, I was able to do so because you have an hour window to cancel a Google order! However honestly all this was just botched IMO, who knows how many people had to go though the same process just to place an order, not smooth would be the title for this whole release. Thankfully when I check my google wallet account it says that 2 of the orders were canceled and that my original order is pending, which I would assume will say pending until Google gets around to shipping my phone, which if I had to guess may not be until tomorrow with an arrive date of next Monday most likely, lol...that's a little longer then 2 days if you ask me! Either way I'm just going to get right to it and say it...Google should take some pointers from Apple with this stuff, people may talk a lot of crap about the fruit but one thing they can handle is setting a date and handling a release!
