After checking the manual download location for ESE81 from google, I decided to play with the hyperlinks.

I changed https://android.clients.google.com/updates/voles/signed-voles-ESE81-from-ESD56.fa406da6.zip to 82 and downloaded a new zip.

I've since tried that link today at work and it now says file not found.

Has anyone else downloaded ESE82? I'm certain I have it on my home PC and I'll gladly upload it when I get home.

Edit: I posted a link in one of my later posts. Scroll down!

Being the skeptic that I am I dont believe this for a second. Even if ESE82 is real and it is "update 2" the zip wouldnt be named the same thing with 1 number changed. And it wouldnt be from ESD56 it would be from ESE81.

Down boy! The OP says he/she has it at home. I have no reason to think the OP is lying unless the file can't be uploaded later.

Remember: innocent until proven guilty. ;)

I follow what you're saying, but I would think that ESE82 would be inclusive (would contain all that ESE81 has + bug fixes), and it would be possible to go from 2.0.1 (ESD56) to 2.1 (ESE82). Such that new phones sitting in boxes right now would be able to go straight from 2.0.1 to 2.1-update2 (ESE82) w/out 1st having to update to 2.1-update1 (ESE81). Just my speculation. Let's see if the OP is legit later today.

Hey all thanks for the replies. Here's what I did:

I saw posts related to the manual download and I looked at the link location. Being curious, I tried browsing the directories to see if I could get my hands on any left over files, but they blocked all indexes.

I then was just playing around and renamed 81 to 82 in the zip file, and sure enough something downloaded. This was on my home PC, and I'm still at work right now.

I do not know much at all about rooting or how the file system works, but I did open it up in winrar to look at what was inside, and it looked like a full update with all of their stock apps inside the manifest. Then again, I've never browesd it before but it seemed legit. The file size was the same, and I'd be interested to see if the CRC's are different. If so, that would tell me something has changed between the 81 and 82.

I'm hoping my temporary internet files were not deleted, seeing how I "opened to location" rather than "saved to disk" but I'm pretty sure it will still be there. All I did was play COD MW2 after that until late :)

I'm surprised no one else tried manipulating the download url. Perhaps on other forums someone may have tried?

I will post as soon as I'm home (T MINUS 3.5 HOURS)

Edit:
Just to clarify, I'm just as skeptical as anyone else. Why the zip file would have the exact same filename with just the number varying is beyond me. Maybe someone made a mistake when they uploaded it and put up multiple copies? Its been deleted already, maybe they noticed lots of people downloading it.

Here's a SS of the archive. Does this forum allow uploads of 15 MB?

I just put it on Mega Upload but its giving me some unavailable crap. I'll find another location unless someone has an ftp to donate.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=B343C7AR

Just put it on media fire:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/gojtrnujrjy/signed-voles-ESE82-from-ESD56.fa406da6.zip <-- works!

**DISCLAIMER: No I didn't fake this nor mess with it. I legitimately downloaded this last night screwing around with URLs. As with any, use caution because none of us know what it is. Someone that has experience with these update zips should look at it first.

And by the way, you're welcome if its the real deal!
