I have been with VM for 10 yrs now, I love them but the coverage is patchy where I live. I am starting a new job soon and will be spending a LOT more time in the areas where coverage is really crappy and that's not good!

I want to know if I can flash my VM Optimus V to straight talk on the verizon towers.... I know their coverage is great :)

Thanks in advance!

I don't know why phatninja said you would be breaking the law but I do agree that it would be better to just flash your phone to verizon 50 dollar prepaid and get unlimited everything. I don't know how to put phones on straight talk cdma but I'm sure that it's the same or a similar process as flashing your phone to Verizon itself. I posted a video tutorial on android central or xda on how to do it.

Now my two cents. I think that you should go with the 50 dollar verizon prepaid plan. It'll save you on alot of headache since the guide is already there. Right now there is no definition on how much data you can use before you get throttled on straight talk so they can throttle whenever. Finding the info is gonna be a pain. More or less when you try to ask how people are gonna give you run around posting lies asking you questions and giving you a big headache. For some reason this is a touchy subject. But good luck to you. If you need some help with the verizon flash post in the thread

It's illegal because it would have you messing with the MEID / ESN of the device. You would also need a donor device, which means you would have to mess with it's MEID / ESN, which would mean buying another phone, anyways. So, OP, please take the advice of the community and simply purchase a new device and you should be able to sell your old one.

I think I read Leslieann say before it's a grey area legality wise... if both devices are yours and both esns good. It still would definitely be against their tos agreement.

There's a bit more to it than that to even start qualifying for the 'grey area'. And that's about all we can say about the process. Also, the specifics on how to do it are not permitted on the forum.
