Galaxy Note 2 or S4?

I'm currently a Verizon customer looking to get a new Android phone. I'm tired of my old iPhone, and want to upgrade to something a little nicer. I have been interested in the Galaxy Note 2, which isn't actually out yet, but will be soon. The phone seems to have good battery life, which is of the utmost importance to me (but not enough to make me interested in the Razr MAXX), and has that neat feature that lets you run two apps on the same screen. Then again, the screen may just be a bit too big for my tastes. On the other hand, I could hold out for the Galaxy S4, which is rumored to come out in January, but that isn't a sure thing yet. What should I do?

S4 won't come out on January. I can tell you that for the ff reasons:

1. For the past three years, Samsung has released the Galaxy S series in May-June, its like a schedule, like how HTC releases flagships on March, and Apple on September.

2. Even if the S4 does come out on January, you'd wait a long time for it since you are in the US and using carrier branded phones. The Note two 2 launched like almost 2 months ago and has been available every since. It means that IF the S4 does come out January, you'd have to wait until maybe April or June before it becomes available to you from your carrier.

My answer, get the best phone you can get now. An SIII or an Note 2 if you prefer. The SIII will get the multi app view in an update. Samsung already leaked a firmware for beta-testing with that feature. If you keep on waiting, you'll always here of something better to come. By the time an S4 comes out, there'd be rumors of an impending Note 3.

Agreed. I would get a Note 2 if I'm in the OP's position.

Nope, not available as far as i know. It's a ROM level modification thay forces apps to use only half a screen. Other apps are barred from interfering with other apps, but Samsung modified the OS itself. Not sure if there is a ROM out there that can do this, and if there are, doubt anything less than quad cores and dual Kraits can handle it.

I'm probably going to end up getting the Note 2. That is pretty much the best phone available on Verizon right now, right? I'm not interested in the Droid DNA, by the way.

Nice choice. The Note 2 is an excellent phone and you'll be surprised how good the screen is. Super AMOLED certainly makes images and text more interesting to look at. And it uses an RGB matrix which is much better than PenTile.

The SGS4 is probably coming out early to mid next year which is too much of a wait.

And yeah the Droid DNA's battery life is terrible. And the UI which is filled with software bugs and lag is just ugly. I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole.
