Root How to remove Metro PCS Apps???

I have read thread after thread trying to figure this out and seem to keep encountering outdated threads which refer to /cust (which does not exist on my phone). As far as I can tell, every metro app is located in /system/app but is set to be read-only. I have even attempted to manually chmod the specific applications I am trying to delete and even this does not work.

What do I need to do BESIDES purchase Root Explorer? This is the only other option I am aware of that I have not yet tried.

P.S. Yes, my phone is already rooted and was verified via root checker.

You could use Titanium Backup to uninstall the Metro Apps. It worked for me.

Root explore and TB are really good for deleting any apps you don't want,but also u can use rom tool box a well.

I agree Titanium Backup is tha App Firstly for peace of mind, secondly to de-bloat your Admire If you're rooted this app (especially if you've paid for pro) is your brain.

Titanium backup is exactly what you need. Make sure to make backups of the apps you delete first though. Also, titanium backup reqiures root.

Thanks for the replies everyone. In case someone else encounters the same problems I had, here are what my solutions were:

1. I needed to install Busybox v1.19 and run the script to Mount R/W (and that version specifically as other, newer versions would not work).

2. After this, Titanium backup was able to finally uninstall everything completely.

3. Still, I was totally out of space and utterly baffled. After many hours of fumbling around and googling my little heart out, I finally came across a thread which explained that /data/dalvik-cache contained a HUGE surplus of unnecessary stuff. ALL of it is removable and anything that should not be deleted will be recreated on your next reboot. I used the terminal emulator, invoked "su", and then typed rm /data/dalvik-cache/* and freed up nearly half of my hard drive! NOTE: It kind of freaked me out as applications began to crash, but simply reboot so the required cache files can be recreated and everything will run smoother than ever.

I think I finally have my phone cleaned out and it's faster than ever now! Hope these notes help someone!

It's easier to use the app titanium backup to delete apps. It's more noob friendly i suppose. And you just answered your own question. /data is the folder dalvik-cache is in. You need an app like root explorer to access it thought because it's a system folder. But you can just wipe the dalvik-cache in cwm so there's no need to bother it.

*sigh* you chose the wrong thread to see how to remove bloatware. And to answer your last question terminal emulator is an app you run that lets you perform tasks such as extracting a system file to your sd card and other things. And the invoked su thing just means he gained superuser access with terminal emulator. If you're rooted you should atleast know that su means superuser.

This http://androidforums.com/admire-all-things-root/412650-safely-removeable-bloatware.html is the main thread on removing apps. cwm is clockworkmod. That's one of the main things you should install before you start deleting things willy nilly

Don't install rom manager...

Clockworkmod comes from rom manager but don't ever use rom manager. You need cwm to make a backup just in case you delete something that messes up your phone
