Thats pretty cool, never seen that before. It would be good to send people to that are on the fence about the phone and want to see how it works.

I too wish I'd have known about it months ago.. even before choosing the device, but mostly after I got it when I was setting it up to my needs, etc.

I see that posted around here, about delays and lag, etc. Mine just does not do that and never has, not even very much before I learned how to do maintenance on the device (caches, message deletion, backing out of apps instead of hitting the home button, etc).

The closest thing to lag on mine is when I'm inputting numbers during a phone call, "if you want to blankety-blank, press 1," etc.

As I keep saying, is there a huge difference in the number of apps between some users of the Eris? Is it about hardware quality control at the factory?

Ha! I'm down for that.

I don't get the impression that they make it seem fast though. You can definitely tell it's a simulator and not a realistic phone. Now, if they posted a You Tube video, then it would be real. I think this simulator is a lot better than just reading a manual.

I will say 2.1 cut out most of the slight lag I had in 1.5. I posted in another thread, that I think the OTA update will be different than the leaks. The Droid users are able to access MLB At Bat 2010 (which I want) since they've gotten 2.1. I cannot and I'm running the newest leak of 2.1. Grrrrr.

After suffering in silence for a while I come to find that her soft keys don't work on a regular basis and that her phone is extremely laggy. She was also having network (intermittent 3G) problems and battery problems. I took the phone back to Verizon on Saturday and she is getting a new one mailed out. Should be here Tuesday.

Personally, I would say that the simulator is pretty accurate as to how my phone is running. Button presses have a close to if not instant reaction from the phone.

Yes, my first surprise when joining this forum was the thread about the buttons not being even and not functioning on the Eris.

The quality control issue seems to be real, complicated, of course, by user habits and mis-use, etc. (leaving in pants pocket, pants into washer, etc. ).

I had the intermittent 3g problem, but it was user error. Haha. I didn't have the "mobile always on" checked. Whoops. All is good now. I even figured it out before i activated the replacement, so I sent the refurbished back!

The amazing part of all this is that the VZW braintrust never led me to that option in the settings. I stumbled upon it myself.

I'm loving my Eris even more now with 2.1. I recently figured out how to install an apk file from the interweb if the app's not available in the market.

You may want to take your phone by Verizon then. They said it was replaceable under warranty. No insurance involvement needed. We got our phones back in December so they wouldn't/ couldn't replace it on the spot, but they are mailing one out.

FYI when I trained on new devices and features (back when I used to work at the VZW) we used these emulators. Every time someone got a phone they thought was "too much" for them, I would point them to these. Great tool for people who are technologically challenged.

My sister is a long-time Vampire at "Second Life," a virtual world type of place online. She belongs to a clan of hundreds of Vampires.. Well my phone has 2.1 on it so this wouldnt work for me really?

Besides i use 3g if im on my internet and to be honest i rarely use the eris for internet unless i'm in that boring ass Western Civilization class and i connect to PSU wi-fi

and the occasional need to find things quick when im out and about

sometimes i wonder why i have a smartphone...i really technically never use anything besides the apps, email and text lol...i use the web like 2% of the time
