Video Recording Audio Quality

My friend recorded video at a concert with his S3 with very poor audio quality results. It's a known issue that apparently is a software problem. My Droid 3 does a pretty good job by comparison (and even records the video better without saturation from the lighting.)

For those who already have their Note II, can you confirm whether this issue has carried over to the Note II or does it record audio at a level of quality that one should expect today and not as if it were an Iphone 3GS (horrible audio.)

I can confirm the Note2 records video with stereo sound

But I have not tried to record a high decibel rock concert with it yet.

FWIW =- My iPhone 4 does remarkably well recording high decibel rock concerts - but Mono only.

Thanks! I do know it also records in stereo. You could actually test it at home or in your car if you have a system that pumps out bass. The issue is that the S3 on ICS recorded filtering out the bass.... which destroys the sound quality. The rumor is that the Jelly Bean update fixes it.

It is a deal breaker for me though if the Note 2 can't record audio with video on par with what is good by today's standard. I really don't want to wind up with a Razr...but it can do it with no problem.

It seems to be very sensitive. I recorded a video with children playing at least 20 feet behind me. My video is loud with this background noise. But it knows how to regulate it for example if the foreground sound is loud, it seems to kill the background noise no problem. Or if the foreground noise is kinda low, it will amplify it. But maybe not good for loud concerts. I haven't tried it at a loud concert.

Not sure if the quality is all the way up on the camera, still learning how it all works, but here you go.

Thank you so much! You put my fears to rest! The Note 2 is nothing like the GS3. It handles audio as you should be able to expect in 2012 on a phone.

Here is a sample of what the GS3 does to audio at a concert. Rush - Red Sector A (Gibson Amphitheater 11-19-2012) - YouTube The audio was by no means overly loud. The bass was actually underwhelming in volume. Your car stereo was more powerful (relatively.) What is going on with the GS3 on Ice Cream is absolutely inexcusable and Samsung should be embarrassed. I cannot be more relieved to know I won't have to rethink going forward with the Note II next week.

Seems to me it will do perfectly fine at concerts if it can handle the kind of bass in the sample above.
