thanks again, ironass. does this mean, that the signal bars in the notification area are unreliable? My data connectivity drops even when all 5 signal bars are available. I will download this app right away. I am currently running DDLP8 modem (India Specific), the links to which you had very kindly provided (Modem+RIL).

I find that you get a more accurate and longer term readout with Network Signal Info as it can monitor the signal for longer and hopefully show when it drops out. Load a data heavy page and then switch to NSI and see if the signal fails.

Ok ironass, I just opened the Google page on stock browser and the signal did indeed fluctuate. It went from -89dbm to -97dbm while the page was loading. I am on 2G network (EDGE, I think). What does this mean??? :p
I noticed that you ignored my second question entirely.... Point taken...

As this has strayed totally off topic, I will post a reply in, "Modems - Dummies Guide".

I just tried to install this & get a message E:can't open /emmc/XXLSJ_NeatROM_Full.zip(bad)
Installation aborted

Jikes!!!!

EDIT: My initial download was the 1st link, but I also paused it part way through. I've downloaded it again, using the bottom link and its installing.

There was a difference of about 60mb between the files also. Im pressuming this is due to me pausing the download.

Oh!... the second question that you added after I posted my reply... GMT+1 hour.

Ironass, Hawker and everyone else who flashed the full version, how is the scrolling and smoothness and the battery life? Do you guys notice any difference between Neatrom ICS and Neatrom JB? Please be kind enough to elaborate.

I thought we elaborated in these posts...

Because I have not flashed a Jelly Bean ROM until now, I'm noticing a whole host of new app's and features, such as ChatON, S Planner, etc: Not to mention the new TouchWiz launcher and widgets.

As most of you will already know, I'm a big fan of the clear, clean, crisp, stock, look and NEAT ROM XXLSJ keeps this. Very easy to read at a glance, with or without reading glasses.

Scrolling and menus are quick and smooth on this ROM. No hint of judder or lag for me. It remains to be seen what the battery life on the PhilZ_3.5 kernel, that the ROM comes bundled with, fares in battery tests as it is roughly a stock kernel with no manipulation. As far as I am aware, neither Siyah or Dorimanx are compatible with this ROM, or stock JB, and so it is a case of Hobsons Choice at the moment. However, the PhilZ kernel at least contains the, "brick bug", fix.

Firstly I want to say that compared to GB->ICS, the leap from ICS->JB is HUGE as far as what it has to offer to the user. I don't know if technically the jump is huge (it may well be even bigger) but to you the user, JB is a whole new ball game.

With the exception of one or two minor niggles (detailed later) the ROM itself up to now has been flawless. Its very slick and smooth, boots up very quickly compared to ICS. I did not expect for one minute that this leaked pre-release would be as good as this. I'm already convinced it will now become my daily runner over XWLPY. Battery is still of course an unknown quantity but I'm not too bothered at this stage.

With Sale's init.d and build.prop tweaks, I expect XXLSJ Lite to be slightly better again.

See also the screenshots from those two posts, illustrating the differences in more detail.

Ok, its 15.05 in Belgrade and 19.35 in India. I think I will be able to flash Neatrom Lite first thing tomorrow morning. :D :D Last day with Jellybam rom (CM10, AOKP based.) I have been flashing almost 1 rom a day for the last so many weeks. I think Sale's rom might just become my daily driver(I have had none, until now) Ironass, seeing as you have been on Neatrom for the last four months, any advice on how to settle down (this has nothing to do with relationships or marriage ;) )

Do a full wipe before installing the rom. Delete old nandroid backups but keep one of your present rom. Delete user apps which you don't need. i assume you will need yur old photos, videos etc, so dont remove them. You wont be needing the system apps from your old rom so dont bother restoring them from titanium backup. You can also freeze apps from Neatrom Lite, which you dont need. Thats all I can think of, mate :D

Sorry to burst everyone's bubble, but i have encountered some problems, since I flashed last night.

1. Screen does not respond when pressing unlock button. I have to wait a few secs for the touch to be active.

2. Google Now hates my voice, everytime I try and make light conversation she craches, silly bint :D

Is this because this version of firmware is still under testing?

cheers

Silly bint is what I call Sygic's "Emma" when she directs me sometimes ! The wife hates me doing that as she finds the word "bint" very offensive !

Anyway back on topic, It could be because the firmware is still under testing although it is an official firmware. Did you (and I'm not trying to "teach my grandmother to suck eggs," so to type) do the usual wipes before flashing ?

Right, time is mine :) Done CWM back up, done Titanium back up, done EFS Back up, all relevant folders copied to PC. I think a complete purge is needed if not necessary before flashing so I'm copying all my phones media (both internal and external SD) and doing a full clean up. I'm going to flash onto a pristine scrubbed clean SGSII. Of course I'll still be here til midnight copying back and restoring but I'll know any issues are not due to any ICS related debris left on my phone. A belt and braces approach I know, but if I have any issues I know I can report back in this thread and they're JB issues and nothing else.
