Help Edit camera vidoes to send by sms

Well I tried to edit the video & reduce the size, do you know what the file size limit is. The video is of a friends dog chasing bubbles and she's up at Mayo Clinic w/ her husband. I thought it would cheer her up, so if you can help me w/ this I'd sure apprecaite it , thanks, Cyn

I don't know about video, but I was trying to send ringtones and it kept telling me they were to large. So I downloaded handcent message app from the market. You can actually change the size of the messages sent in it's settings. It worked like a charm. But as I said, I don't know if it will work for videos but it is worth a shot.

Well we are talking about yesterday of a dog chasing bubbles, so what size do I need to reduce it so so I can send it...so I don't have the chance to change before taking the video. I have Handcent and set the message size to 1mg, it still wont go, thanks. The file size is a little over 160k and I composed a new message and tried to attach....same error.

Do I need to turn the phone off and reboot it? Cyn

OK. Although Handcent is great for reducing pictures, it is not good for reducing audio or video. Unless you zip them first (compression) and then the person receiving will have to unzip them.
The size of your video is not the problem, it is the Frame rate and bit size. Sms can not handle it if it is too fast Frame 23 fps verses 14 fps and. Bit rate of 3m verses 200K.
You will have to convert it on a. PC OR Mac first.

You know... this should be a "call to arms" for devs. So many times, like when I am out on hiking trips, I shoot high res videos. I would love to send them to people, but shooting in low quality just isn't an option, since often times you can't just simply reshoot the exact same thing a second time. I think someone should develop an app that can cut full quality videos down to Mms quality without touching the original.

Yeah, I don't think phones were meant to send hi quality. Best way is to shoot high quality and convert on a pc to send it. That is what I do. I have a program on my pc called Magic Video Converter. This program will convert just about any format to any other format. I have used it several times to even convert movies down to a smaller size to fit the droid. Works great.

As for Cyn, Dougwilson2000 hit something on the head there, you can send the video using gmail or email on your phone to your friends e-mail or gmail on their phone if they have a smart phone then they may (??) have capabilities of retrieving email on their phone?? That is a question....can always send them a text telling them to check their e-mail if their phone gets e-mail.

Just downloaded Magic Video Converter, the audio sounds like a frog croaking w/ some rythemic background noise. What's up w/ that? I didn't buy it, and you are limited to edit one video file...I guess each instance you try the program.

Well a heck of a day, I realized that w/ the update today, the camera button on the side of the phone is now assigned to "Quick Message", if I clicked the gallery icon on the desktop, I get "application is not installed"....I had trouble deleting it, the waste basket would turn red, but then change back to grey while the icon is there and I couldn't get rid of it. Finally was able to tonight while talking to tech support. I'm off to bed, thanks, everyone for your help, Cyn

Yeah man... you missed my whole post. When I am out hiking, I obviously am not going to be carrying a PC around with me. If I had access to a PC, I could just send people the pictures in their email or show them in person. And if I did have access to a PC, I would just use "Super".

The entire point of my post is that it would be nice to have an app for your phone which would allow you to convert/compress the video and send it via Mms. That's it. I'm not looking for other options. I don't have access to a PC and I am unwilling to shoot in low quality. The only point to my post was how we should have an app that would compress and send.

And if I were looking for other options, the easiest thing to do would be to upload the video to picasa via Pixelpipe and SMS a link to it. I don't care that is low quality when people see it via text... I just think it would be nice to send vid on the fly without having to shoot in low quality or have access to a computer.

PS - Do you live in Phoenix? Is that the reason for your screen name? If so... want to trade? I currently live in a place where nothing but pine trees grow for 10 months out of the year. People here whine about heat when it rises above 65 degrees, and we might get two weeks a year with temps breaking 80 degrees. I'm moving to phoenix at the end of the summer, so if you want to trade, this could benefit us both. :D:D
