Wow, so much faster

After being jealous how my mom's Optimus L9 with 1.0Ghz dual core OMAP cpu felt so much faster and smoother than my phone, I decided to clean it up.

Not actually because of that. Just got annoying any time one of my launchers updated it made me choose the launcher. I had about 6 installed, Nova, Xperia, Zeam, ADW, Launcher pro, etc.

Now that I removed all those launchers my phone feels about 2x as fast. I guess they were running in the background and slowing things up.

Incidentally the IO scores for quadrant and antutu on my mom's Optimus L9 are much better than my spectrum. And it actually benchmarks better than the GNex largely because of IO. Though Samsungs in general seem to have sluggish IO.

Of all the ICS style launchers I definitely feel that Nova is the smoothest. I actually like the features and options of apex more but nova just feels smoother. Actually of all the normal style (more on that later) launchers ADW ex is the smoothest but I can't stand it's menu IU and it's doesnt make a composite of the widgets menu but just has one large list which is annoying when you have a lot of apps with widgets.

But, I still must say if smooth operation is what you want you can't beat TSF Shell and SPB Shell. I own both of these and have used both a lot on my spectrum (though not recently, only while on GB) and they were absolutely flawless; by flawless I mean I never seen a hint of lag or delay in them at all. I don't use either of those now though because they just lack the features of launchers like nova, apex, go, holo, adw, and others.

Nova has been my DD lately.

PS: Nova prime is what I'm referring to. The free version of nova is way to locked down. The free version of Apex is much better because it's not as locked down.

Just a note to anyone who goes looking, v1.1.3 of primo launcher had some bad issues, so the dl was removed until the dev can release a new version.

yea, it's a work in progress. I'm actually running 1.1.3 and it's running ok for me but he stil hasn't fixed my issue with the app drawer grids not showing correctly. I hope he gets this launcher worked out though because it has a lot of potential.
