PC sms Client

Lol. Nice use of words.

Is there any app (preferably free) that allows you to control an ERIS (android1.5)'s SMS client by sending messages from the computer while hooked up to the phone via cable. I'm just lazy and dont feel like picking up my phone half the time...

Thanks!!!

RemoteSMS is pretty good if you're on PC.

There is a full and a lite version.

The full version costs $2.22.

Probably not what you're looking for but I use Google Voice for basically the same thing. It doesn't send SMS via the phone but you can send and receive SMS via the GV site on your PC.

Not sure what carrier your on, but Sprint has one that you can use directly through their website. ZipWhip i think is what it's called. I think you can get the app for other carriers as well.

PDA Net ( PdaNet -- Use your Treo smartphone as a Wireless Modem for your PC ) also has an application. I use it to use my android as an internet connection, but it also has an SMS Agent. Unfortunately, it only works when connected.

I tried Remote SMS, but I didn't like the polling interface. I had to click refresh to get a new message. lame.

Still looking.... Perhaps it would make a good beginner app for me.

I've used pdanet as well, but don't like how many steps it takes to connect the phone.

The other thing that works really well is the SMS IN G-CHAT feature, under SETTINGS --> LABS of gmail. The only problem is that texts sent to your cell won't go there. You have to message people first and then they can reply to you there. Plus, they won't have your number...

EDIT - just noticed with pdanet you HAVE to be tethered to use the sms agent, which sucks because my work has a much faster internet connection than my phone.
