Screen Protector???

Does anyone use or recommend a screen protector? I installed the Invishield but it was terrible. There were 3 long "lines" going down the protector and also it kind of distorts the screen. I did see a video on YouTube that says the screen is scratch resistant. The person took a key to the screen to simulate your keys in your pocket rubbing the screen and the screen held up fine.

i have an eris and i've demonstrated how "scratch resistant" that screen is with my keys before

the screen is a hard acrylic i think, and i work for VZW and we sell screen protectors all the time and i've got to tell you, the screen protectors we sell make the screen very VERY unresponsive,

idk if they make screen protectors specifically for capacitive screens or not but generally screen protectors are for either paranoid people or people with resistive screens

I was in Best Buy and was shocked to find an invisibleSHIELD that was custom cut for the Nexus One and paid to have it "professionally" installed. At least by someone who has done it more times than me. He did a great job, and I have no issues with lines or unresponsiveness. It's a little "stickier" than the screen itself, but I've come to appreciate it a bit actually. The screen appears as bright as before and it collects far less smudges from my fingers.

I am the paranoid type with my high priced tech toys. But then again, I paid full price for mine and I don't want to ruin it because a bit of dirt scratched the screen and reminds me every time I see it. Replacing a screen protector is cheaper & easier than replacing a screen. I've also installed screen protectors on my Nintendo DS and iPhones and I suck at doing it. Paying someone who's done it more times was well worth the investment.

That's the one I used too but I managed to get a piece of dust under it and it drove me nuts. Since they only send one it's a one shot chance at getting it dust and fingerprint free.

I ended up buying these:

They're the static cling variety. I screwed the first one up and got a piece of dust under it. The second one I took outside and put a pair of surgical gloves on and got it on there perfect. Screen looks and acts exactly as it did without the protector on there which was what I was after.

I went with the ultra clear. I personally don't like anti glare protectors because they seem to affect the picture quality of the device screen. I prefer that the protector be completely invisible. Hope this helps,

I received this screen protector... total bunk, well not total, but not worth it.... the gain (in anti-reflectiveness) was soooo small... i took it off...

had a matte clarivue leftover... tried that again too... helps with reflections - still as unreadable in direct sunlight and makes a weird pattern on the screen (ie. like refraction type speckles... like when a laser is shone through an acrylic block)...

frankly, no screen protector is still the best solution... the reality (for me) will simply be to crank up the brightness to 100%... since i've got this brightness setting widget (CurveFish - in the market) - makes switching brightness settings super quick (better still than the nexus power bar widget)...

i'm done with screen films/protectors... they are all worthless imo.... being that the Nexus screen is hardened glass and i carry it in the neoprene pouch at all times, makes it unnecessary for me...

I use the Clarivue anti glare and while it does reduce some of the brightness, it virtually eliminates all fingerprints and makes the phone much more bearable in sunlight. I highly recommend it.

Honestly, there really is no need for a screen protector if you are looking strictly to protect the screen. It's Gorilla Glass (google it to get more info).

Now, if you are looking for one to protect against smudges.. have fun. Every one I have tried has not been worth it, so I am just running mine Naked.

I wish the anti-smudge one they have for the iPhone would work on the Nexus.

i always swear by matrin fields screen protectors. i've been using them for years. they're a little more expensive but worth it IMO.

I just took the Clarivue anti-glare off my screen. Screen was much duller with it on and I'm glad it's now off.

yeah it's my opinion that anti-glare screen protectors are a gimmick best left unused. Too much of a compromise in picture quality, imo.

I need protection so I can shove my Nexus in my pocket at the airport or flagging down a taxi. Keys, change or whatever else might be in there. I used the ultra clear tho so as to make sure screen PQ was not hurt.

I used an invisibleSHIELD on my iphone 3g for the two years I owned it and it was well worth it, not a single scratch on the screen. Because of this I now have it on my N1 (I just got the N1 a week ago). I know it takes away from the feel of the phone but for my own sanity I rather have it on. I also used the body shield for the iphone for over a year and it started to peel off. I took it off without having a replacement (just used a regular case) and it got scatched within a week. Right now I don't plan on using the body shield since the N1 comes with the pouch but if I ever stop using the pound the body shield will go on.

My Nexus goes out naked or it sleeps in its neoprene pouch, lol. I love the cold metalic feel of it in my hand and I'm horrible with putting on screen protectors thus no screen protector for me

whatever you do dont get the smoke screen protector from googlenexusoneaccessories. I bought it for the privacy filter feature (in highschool its annoying when the person sitting next to you has prying eyes *especially when youre texting your friend about how creepy they are*) and it SUCKS. doesnt work at all its just dark colored plastic film. I even scratched it up real good when i was applying it just by using a credit card to squeegy out all the bubbles. wouldnt recommend it it makes grey show up purpley on your phone.

I bought these because they were cheap and I thought they had potential to be cool. I was completely surprised how good they turned out to be. They are sort of rigid, apply easily, and look badass. When the screen turns on, you don't notice the mirror at all. I was even still able to see the screen just as well in sunlight as when I didn't have a screen protector on. All in all, a great purchase to protect your screen, especially for the cheap price of six bucks for three.

As for the anti-scratch glass, it is true, but I learned from my iPod touch that over time, the screen will get scratched eventually.

yeah gorilla glass or no gorilla glass. the zune hd is made with the same glass and its extremely scratch resistant as well. however after about 6 months of carrying my zune to school everyday in my pocket it does get a little scratched up. nothing you will notice unless youre looking for them though. ps ive never had keys in the same pocket as my zune
