Just noticed that notifications sounds only come out of the tiny speaker port on one side of the X10. No sounds come out of the speaker used for listening to voice calls on the front of the phone. Wonder if the phone can be modified to output notifications from that speaker as well as the one on the side? Guessing though, that it isn't a very loud speaker though as you've normally got your ear stuck to it!

Just a thought!

Yeah, from my understanding the speaker on the side is for speakerphone, and thus would be the louder of the two.

Rats!

Hearing (excuse the pun) on the otherthreads that the Desire isn't great on speaker output either!

I just want an Android phone with decent volume and a reasonable vibrate function so you can actually notice a text / call! Don't care if it's a few mm thicker!!!

hi Dem -

Go to the store, and check another X10. Maybe yours is having problems - perhaps it got thrown around in shipping.

My ringtone/notification is loud, but my video/audio playback isn't.

Yep, think I may have to! Quality is okay for a mobile, but just not loud enough for ringtones. I'll try another unit in store as soon as I can and report back!

While waiting for my X10 to arrive (tomorrow hopefully!) I've been looking at ways to increase the volume after reading a few poeople complaining about it.

Not sure if this app would work? 'Tone Picker - MP3 Ringtones' Info | Hlidskialf Android Apps

Hope your phone arrives tomorrow!

Not sure that piece of software will help. A work around is to increase the loudness of an mp3 file on your pc using "sound recorder". Very basic windows software, but it allows you to increase the volume of a sound file and save it in that condition. Then transfer it back onto your phone. I did this when I had a Samsung SGH-P300 a few years ago. Quirky little phone, but small size meant small speaker output........ Wouldn't expexct to have to do that on a new multimedia phone these days! :D
