I got my HTC Desire on Thursday. I am currently extreamly impressed with the amount of functionality i have got over my Ipod touch/O2 guide combo. However, I will still keep my Ipod Touch as it plays music so much better than the HTC Desire, and has tap tap revenge 
Anyway, onto topic. I have a major issue with my HTC Desire which I am not sure I can fix myself, so I will have to return it to the shop on Wednesday when my replacement arrives.
The problem with my phone appears to be battery, or it may be a system fault. No matter what I do, I can not get more than 6 or 8 hours of standby out of the device before it goes through the whole battery. The battery remains warm (30 degrees on standby) almost always and 40 degrees when using the backlight, wifi etc.
Battery health is reported as 'good' Now I have run the battery graph software, which I attach, but if you look to line 131 in excel, that was when i turned my phone on this morning, after a 8 hour full charge, I then continued to sleep for another hour, of which I lost 25 percent in that time. The main power usage in that time was 72 percent system, 28 percent cell standby.
If you also look at line 110, this is when i unplugged my phone from work last night, had a 5 minute phone call whilst walking back at 10.15pm, then browsed with wifi for about 75 percent of the time after with full screen brightness until the battery failed. So although the battery is really poor, it seems not to drain more than 2 or 3 times faster when compared from having it on standby to using it alot. Either way, I have never got more than 6-8 hours out of it on standby with everything turned off, including GPS.
I have checked there are no programs running in the background, which there are not, but still i lose a terrible amount of battery very very quickly. Although I will be getting a replacement, I would like to try and figure out what the problem is! number 1 cause is system, followed by cell standby. Any thoughts? My understanding is I should recieve about 300 hours standby. I am now running juice plotter to see if that helps work out whether its battery or phone. I have run several full decharge and recharge, although I admit the first charge it got was only a couple of hours whilst switched on, but i do not think that would basically total the battery. Its had plenty of full decharge and recharge since first charge.
