My VM LG Optimus V Android keeps repeating the message "Low on storage space" or "Storage is full". It's rejecting messages, emails, and phone calls. I have deleted any extra anything I can think of on the phone - pix, messages, etc. I even unsynced my FB account and deleted old contacts. I have been trying to 'delete forever' the trash, thinking this might work...
Does anyone know anything? I can't download any apps from anywhere to help. I am ready to go to Best Buy tomorrow and have someone fix it for me. Phone is approx. 1 yr. old. Thanks.

You need to start by deleting the cache for everything, go into your browsers settings and delete the cache. You wouldn't believe how much space the browser uses, everytime i use my browser i delete the cache.

Same thing with apps, you can delete the cache without harm, just don't delete the data. You can go to the playstore and get a cache cleaner.
Or go to settings >applications>all long press on an app, if the cache box is lit up press on it to clear cache.

Although the best thing you could do is to root your phone and if you use a lot of apps install links2sd. Once you are rooted there are so many options.

You should go to the all things root subforum, go to the sticky^ at the top of the page all things root guide. Everything you need will be there, there are some great guides and easy how to's in there. And don't be afraid to ask questions, there are some friendly and knowledgeable people just waiting to help!

No storage problems here

The best thing to get past the storage problems is root and either use a rom that takes advantage of sd-ext partitions or use Link2sd to take advantage of it regardless of what rom

Agree- the lack of storage is what ultimately led to me moving on from the OV- a different ROM is probably the best "permanent" solution.

I rooted my phone for the exact same reason. one thing I would caution. I didn't know until after I rooted, that you lose VM tech help. you can no longer call them up and tell them you're getting bad reception or anything like that. there are apps on the phone when they give it to you that are used for troubleshooting and they go away when you root. and you can't tell them you rooted your phone, so you're sorta on your own after you root. having said that, my phone is working fine since I rooted. I have one issue that existed before I rooted and I will just have to deal with it because I can't get help from VM and it's a reception issue.

That's why you should make a backup of the stock rom.

Always backup before flashing!

Even if you didn't you can still go back to stock.

thanks... yes I did follow every step of the instructions and there was a lot of backing up in there. but I'm not really sure how to do it. I suppose if I get motivated to fix this issue I'll give it a try.

Having a storage space problem, but something else seems to be wrong rather than what's described above.

Phone is rooted and has CyanogenMod installed. I have ALL of my apps on the SD card, and I have cleared the caches for each app individually, and also cleaned the dalvik cache. Android Assistant says I have no apps in system memory, but when I check phone space, it shows 158.38MB used vs. 21MB free.

What am I missing? What could be using all this space and how do I clear it out?

Thanks for any help.
