Hey guys, new to this forum,

quick question, how do i get my hotmail.co.uk account to work on my HTC Hero?
my hotmail.com account works fine,

can anyone tell me the settings i need for standard HTC/android mail to get my .co.uk account to run?

Thanks!

For the Hero mail APP manual config is needed

INCOMING:
TICK BOX "REQUIRE SIGN IN"
POP3 SERVER pop3.live.com
PORT 995
SECURITY SSL (always)
USERNAME full email including the " @hotmail.co.uk "
PASSWORD password

OUTGOING:
TICK BOX "REQUIRE SIGN IN"
SMTP SERVER smtp.live.com
PORT 25
SECURITY TLS (always)
USERNAME full email including the " @hotmail.co.uk "
PASSWORD password

Works perfect for me on all Android handsets I've had.

Thanks for info, I am with orange UK and can now send Hotmail using my Hero.
I still cannot seem to get it to receive mail and notify reliably though. Have tried setting to notify every 1 minute.
The notification works fine for my Google mail account.
Where in the 'incoming settings' screen how do I set 'requires sign in' ? I can not find this, I can only find this option in the outgoing settings screen.
Also when I go to incoming server settings, then hit 'next', I get a message 'cannot connect to server, (-Err login allowed only every 15 minutes)'
I am using K9 mail.

many thanks

Try changing the outgoing server from port 25 to port 587. It *may* be that Orange are blocking outgoing connections to smtp servers on port 25. Some ISPs do it for "security" reasons, though most then automagically route through their own smtp servers.

It's worth a try.

I had a problem to send mail (Hotmail)from HTC Hero and been looking all the forums to sort out hotmail account setup on my Hero and tried all the port address . .But today you have saved my life ..I used 587 as mentioned ..Now mine is 100% working now .
Thanks a lot
