Hi all :) can anyone educate me about RAM usage? I only have my One X a couple of weeks and rooted last week running the Viper ROM. Shortly after rooting I installed the app ZDBox and it tells me that I'm constantly running With only 12 - 15% RAM free. Is this normal? My initial thoughts are that it's not normal for the RAM to be running at 85% capacity constantly, even when I'm doing nothing of note with the phone :(

Normal behaviour? Anything I can do to reduce RAM usage?

Many thanks :)

Wow.. ever since I got the One X and installed Viper ROM (which is my main ROM, but all other custom ROMs I have tried have the same usage rates) I've noticed that the RAM always has only like 200 - 300 MB free. I installed an application called RAMBooster Pro which has an awesome widget which you tap and it just clears your memory, as in rids of of unnecessary applications in the background. There are system ones that are marked as "whitelist", but you can add any application you want to stay alive to the "whitelist" category as well.

It's a great application and it usually leaves me with 350MB+ free RAM. God, I wish it had 2GB of RAM! lol

But in all honesty when I tap "clean" I feel like the devices becomes much faster and responsive than when I just let the device to its thing, especially when I look at the task manager and see how many unnecessary applications are running, I just hate to start killing "one by one" because they're usually a lot.

I may just try that, though, since you mentioned it. I may actually enable Sense again (disabled it from Titanium Backup) and remove applications like The Battery and RAM Booster Pro and see how I like the phone.

Would I have to remove Folder Organizer as well? It creates folders on my home screen which are really useful, but at the same time there's no harm in just putting icons on the home screen instead if Folder Organizer actually slows down my device.

You gotta do what you gotta do to make your phone feel fast enough... if that means clearing the RAM all the time, then go for it lol

Most launchers have folder creation built in, so I'm confused as to why you use a different program to make the folders...? unless i'm thinking of something else.

I feel comfortable with Folder Organizer, for some reason. It just seems fool-proof and really easy to use for me. That's in addition to the fact that I have a lot of applications and it takes time to organize them in the correct labels, especially labels I created myself, and so the Backup/Import feature in Folder Organizer is pretty handy. I am guessing the launchers may have this backup option, too, though. haha
