Best overall Virgin Mobile phone?

I'm still within 30 days to return and I may try the Triumph. It has a decent size screen and a better camera.

You might wish to rethink that after researching the phone. It has many issues and to fix them, you have to install a custom rom. That means rooting the phone which will void the warranty.

The Optimus V is just too small. The iPhone 4 is tiny and the V is smaller than that. I have the Droid x and I've put many roms on that phone, so rooting is not a concern. Seems to me from what I've read. Once you root the triumph with say CM7, makes it an excellent device.

Again the Optimus V slider worked flawlessly for about a month. it's just way too small. I found the iPhone 4s to be toy like, so anything smaller is not acceptable.

In my book:

Triumph=High priced, fast, though gas-guzzling (bad battery life) 8-cylinder muscle car with an internal steering system (GPS) that seriously needs a fix. If you install the right ROM and other software to fix a few bugs as well as the GPS, it's really not a half bad phone at all. The flashed ROM may actually improve battery life too.

Optimus V=Corolla. It's affordable, but more importantly, it's reliable. It won't win too many drag races or benchmark pissing contests. But it gets you from A to B with less battery power consumed. Chicks won't dig you as much for driving this car, but that's not a good reason to buy it anyway.

The Optimus V is the safer choice IMO. But the Triumph, if tuned and fixed, can be a pretty formidable phone. I'm on a budget, so I'm planning to hold off on upgrading until at least summer.

Oh, and I'm on the Intercept. The Optimus V beats it handily in every field except for the fact that the intercept has a dedicated qwerty keyboard. Think of the Intercept as a 1998 Hyundai Elantra (remember when Hyundai used to make bargain basement pieces of junk and call them cars?). My family actually had one. We kept having to take it back to the mechanic because of a specific part that was defective. Everything else about the car was fine. But that individual part would've costed too much money and time to replace. Dad insisted the first few times that the mechanic just use a temporary fix for it. After the car got into a huge accident, he sold it to a junk yard, only to later learn that one of the employees of that service station we visited had picked it up for cheap, spent decent $$$ to replace that part. Last I heard he'd been driving it around for several years. It's probably on its last legs if it hasn't already been junked completely.

That's pretty much the Samsung Intercept for ya. Out of the box, it has too many problems. Crappy battery life and super duper lag. But if you flash it using Stockom on Crack and install Juice Defender, it's actually surprisingly reliable! I DO get rare instances of Google Service or whatever that background software's called crashing on me. But it's once in a blue moon. I text and do e-mails at the library when I don't have my notebook with me. It's been with me many places so far.

I own both the Intercept and Optimus V. Both are fantastic phones. I owned the SI first, but I couldn't get the data connection working, so that's why I bought the OV. Out of the box, there are some differences. I prefer the metal casing feel of the SI to the rubber casing of the OV. But the OV has a pretty nice GPS utility factory installed (it's a battery hog though, so I turned it off). Stock battery life, it actually seemed like the SI was better, but that might just be a perception. The only real disappointment of the OV is that it does NOT include an task manager stock. That pissed me off. Ended up having to pay 2.99 for an app I liked.

Optimus V users will probably say the Optimus V while Triumph users will probably say Triumph.

They're all prepaid.

Flashing refers to flashing a different rom (altered kernel and/or OS) to the internal memory of the phone. Currently this is the only way to get Gingerbread onto the Intercept, Optimus V and Triumph.
Oh my god I had to look at the date on this! Hah, if the Optimus V is the best phone then I'm in trouble! I m using it now and looking for a better phone cuz its junk! Lolo any ideas on the best virgin mobile phone now? In 2012?

What is the best overall phone for Virgin Mobile regardless of price?

Pre-Paid that is.

Also what is flashing?

I had Optimus V at 600mhz 512mb Ram and like 200mb of internal storage
Pros: Cyanogen Mod > best Android phone O.S. (comes in a rom that u "Flash" or replace the stock Virgin mobile O.S with.)
Cons: 200mb of internal memory leaves u choosing apps to install and rid.
Hardware is kinda lame.

Have Optimus Elite at 800mhz(overclocked to 1100) 512mb 1gig of internal memory , + 2gig internal non removable sdcard. > socket available for extra.
Cons: no Cyanogen mod < yes this makes a huge difference especially if u use your phone to update your PS3 or play call of duty online (yes its a lil laggy 3gs better then nothing- data per match used 8mb)

I am hearing a lil buzz from the new? Optimus G > not sure of its specs or Custimized O.S (rom) availability.

For today only, I would put the two best phones as the Evo V and the One V. This is largely because of price: the Evo V is a 4G (Wimax) phone, pretty much the top of the line for Virgin at $149. Also, the Evo V has a lot of custom ROM support. The One V is 3G only but has nice specs for only $49. Both phones are $100 off today.

We'll see what happens when the prices go back to normal tomorrow.

OP said "regardless of price". If price doesn't matter, I'm pretty sure it would be the Galaxy SII or the iPhone 4S. I'm 99% sure those are both better than the Evo V if we're talking specs. But for the buck, it would definitely be the Evo V for sure.

The Galaxy S II and the Evo V are actually fairly close. The Evo V has the higher resolution (and higher PPI) though it is slightly smaller, 4.3" to 4.5". The Galaxy S II has more internal memory, a higher resolution camera (8 MP to 5 MP), and better battery life. Both phones have 1.2 Ghz dual core processors.

A lot of which phone people prefer will come down to look and feel. The Galaxy S II is thinner. OTOH, a lot of people complain about the plastic feel of Samsung phones and find that HTC phones feel much more solid with the metal frame.

That's all true and don't forget that the S II has text and multimedia messaging whereas the Evo V has radio resource erroring (I'm not sure why this is better than reliably receiving your text messages, but apparently HTC thought we would like it.) :D

The S2 and evo v are not similar in my opinion. After just a few days of using the S2 I notice vast improvements in speed, reliability and smoothness. The screen doesn't look washed out like the evo and he viewing angles are amazing. Colors are vibrant and I get 4G in the deepest corners of many buildings I could only have dreamed of getting 4G with the evo. Although people say it feels plasticy I don't feel it because it has a good amount of weight to it but not too much. When comparing the weight of the evo to he was literally felt like a brick and the thickness is almost twice as thin as he evo. The camera is also amazing. The evo will never be on par with this camera in terms of clarity and detail. Overall the S2 was a great addition to the virgin mobile line of phones and there is no way that the S2 and the evo are on the same level.

EDIT: sorry for the typos, on the phone

I don't think that was HTC's fault, more like a Virgin/Sprint welcome. It is hard for me to understand how Sprint users complain of that problem, Virgin updates the Android version to ICS and doesn't fix the problem as part of the upgrade. I believe an update has now fixed it, or so we hope.

I had the optimus v and the Triumph. Optimus v was good but too small for me. The triumph I had was a piece of junk. Now I have the evo and if you can snag it for 200 or less that's your answer. It's a great phone with much development and roms. If you want the s2 wait for a price drop because it's not worth paying 300 for it...

I beg to differ... I've owned the Evo and the S2 blows it out of the water. I had nothing against the Evo never got the radio interface error and had a custom rom and everything, but the S2 is leagues ahead of the Evo.

Hey if I switched to tmobile would you recommend the htc amaze, the galaxy s2 or sensation? Is it really that great??!!
