Just wanted to know if you guys are satisfied with your battery life. I'm coming from the samsung transform ultra. I would have to say that the battery life on this phone is better than the ultra, but not as good as i was hoping. I'm a heavy user, what do you guys think about the battery life?

The big beautiful display eats some power, but with a minor tweak i am now getting between 15 and 18 hours with average use in web browsing, texts, watching video on youtube (via browser with flash player, I hate the app for youtube as it can't play all videos). I started with 9 to 10 hours before i made the adjustments. I am on WiFi a lot so your mileage may vary

Mind sharing that "minor" tweak?

I'm getting an S2 on Friday and could use all the battery saving tips/tweaks I can get :).

well if you are rooted using an app like voltage control to under volt the processor by 50mv on each clock cycle speed, and most important is to turn down screen brightness (it is very useable at lower brightness levels and can be turned up and down on the fly by long press on notification bar at the top of the screen then sliding right or left). also quit apps when done using them (use back button to quit instead of hitting home key)

Cool.
That's pretty much what I do, except for the root part.
I'm holding on the root, not because I'm afraid of it, after all I did root my prevail, and my warp1 both, as well as un-root them both, so I am familiar with the root process and roms and such. I just want to let the newness wear off some and play with the phone to familiarize myself with it before I delve into root.

I normally kept my brightness at about 50% most times, mainly because both those phones well, suked outside, couldn't hardly see them, and had to bump the brightness either all the way up or most of the way up. I found though at 50% it was a happy medium for battery life vs screen look.

I also keep my gps, wifi and blue tooth off except for the times I need or use them which wasn't a lot. I move cars from auction to dealer and dealer to auction so I'm out and about most the time, so I rarely used any of them.

I also disable any animation affects and live wall papers and stuff similar. To me all the visuals are really cool and all, and have that "ahhh" and "ohhhh" factor, but for me that lasts about 2 mins and I'm like "OK I'm done, thanks" and turn it all off to save battery.
Battery life to me is pretty vital, since I really HATE plugging in to charge it, except at night when I sleep. Just hate being attached I guess :), so the longer I can last without useing a plug, the better. I will probably end up getting a 3500mah extended battery, as I LOVED the one I had on my warp1, lasted a good 10hrs or better, without having to worry about using a plug in. Most days I rarely if at all used a plug in.

It would seem though that most everyone is getting a good 9hrs of battery life, even UN-rooted people, and those that are rooted can get even more with the battery stats tweaks in the rom......another feature I loved in the roms for the prevail.

So far in 1 yr I've had a prevail, warp1, and warp sequent, and now I will have the s2, is that excessive? :) . Lets hope this is the LAST phone I upgrade to for awhile, getting tired of re-setting up my screens lol.

A good tip to remember is this, and it's very simple.

ANYTHING data related IE: web browsing, gps, WiFi (not so much really, but still data), Facebook, etc, anything that uses the 3g/4g/data part will tend to eat up battery, in fact most of your battery life drains from data usage.

If you can stand doing without that stuff for a day, 6-8 hrs or maybe even 12 hrs or so, do a test, turn off ALL data related stuff, again WiFi, Bluetooth, 3g/4g, gps etc, and stick to simple text and phone calls and nothing else, and you will notice your battery life stretches QUITE a bit longer. Remember too that with text, MMS is considered data as well.

This is why people end up using Juice Defender and other apps that are similar (I personally use Green Power Free....but there are others that do similar) and it turns off data at specified times which results in better and longer battery life.
Mine I have turn off the 3g when I put the phone to sleep (power button off the screen) and when I turn the phone back on out of sleep and get back into the phone, my 3g kicks on again, kinda a 3g on/off automatic switch.

I have tried turning 3g/data off for about an 8 hr day, and it was a good test/learning lesson for me as I learned data does indeed eat a lot of the battery.

On a side note in case people didn't know like I did not, I always thought the 3g/data part was connected to everything, like phone calls, and texting, but it's not. You will still receive texts and phone calls with 3g/data turned off.

Hope this helps

My battery drains around 40% during the night. To test, I fully charged before I go to bed and in the morning the battery is at around 55%...ridiculous!!! Only thing turned on is the WiFi (no other data 3G/4G/Bluetooth). I can't see WiFi draining that much battery but I'll have to try it tonight without the WiFi. I can't figure out what is causing this drainage. Even my old crappy ZTE Warp only drains around 5-10%, at the most, during the night.

Does anyone else having this issue? Also, is there an app that check the battery usage? The battery setting doesn't really tells me much. It dose say "Android OS" is using most of the juice, 52%.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I ended up using Battery Mix...similar app, I think.

Anyway, I think I found what causing my battery drainage. I turned the WiFi off before I went to bed and in the morning it drained around 15%...much better than over 50% drainage. Couple things I notice during the test, I have WiFi at work and it doesn't really drain my battery at all. I think it has to do with my cell signal at the apartment. The cell signal at my apartment is horrible...flicker between 0-2 bars. I'm thinking my battery life at home is horrible because it constantly searching the cell signal.

Let me if anyone has bad cell signal at home that causing your battery drain faster than normal.

PS...I second the slider trick for brightness!!!

Hmm, question. Do you leave your 3G data connection on at all times, even when you're not using your phone to Web browser, etc.? I suggest turning data off when you don't intend on using it. You can still receive calls and texts without data being on. Your battery saving will be like night and day once you get into the habit of turning off data when it's not needed.

I do have 3G on when I'm not at home or work. Again, during the day I don't have much drainage. I'm beginning to think that something is wrong with the wireless set up at home.

Ahh, well, try making it so your wifi turns off automatically after the phone has been in sleep mode for 10-15 mins. It will automatically turn itself back on when you wake your phone.

Are you talking about the Advanced WiFi setting "Keep WiFi on during sleep"? I changed it to "Never" last night but didn't really work, but it was better than 50% drainage, woke up this morning with 30% drainage.:thinking::thinking:

Answer me this, are you running stock (no root/out of the box) and what build are you on, FI22 or FH29? (someone correct me if the previous build isn't correct)

Before I updated to FI22, my battery life was sub-par at best, but when I updated I got a substantial battery life increase and that's not over exaggerating lol.

Get back to me on that. By the way, I'm not having Android sync with ANYTHING, no gmail, no Facebook, twitter, etc. I don't even have those apps on my phone, save gmail but I manually sync that when needed.

I don't want to say it could be a faulty battery because no one wants to hear that their $300+ phone has a hardware problem.

That's on straight wifi with the "Wifi sleep" option enabled and that will get me through tomorrow this time (given I don't stream Pandora for hours, which I did use Pandora for almost 2 hours before that screen cap).

Yes, I'm running stock out of the box and the build is FI22. The build is what it came as, I didn't do any updates.

The only thing I sync are the emails, contacts and calendars. I'm not using any social apps such as Facebook, twitter, and etc. But I'll try and do manual sync. I hope is not a faulty battery as well.

As to the "Wifi sleep" option...is that what I've mentioned earlier?

Yes, it is what you mentioned earlier. Do you have any added apps (such as weather, news, etc.) that you have synced, and if so, what are the update intervals on them? If you have any apps that have update intervals, try seeing them so that they update every hour. Most apps default at 10-15 minute update intervals, that puts a strain on the battery as well.

I have a couple apps that help, too. If the problem is still as persistent after those suggestions I will gladly list the ones that I use.

Changing it to never makes it stay on even when your phone sleeps and usually takes more from your battery.

The keep WiFi on always does keep the wifi on during sleep, and that will use a little more power also allowing apps to use it for data. Now if you are in a poor signal area for 3g or 4g then having WiFi on and connected to the net, actually saves power because the phone is not working as hard to send data over a poor signal connection.

That's my understanding. That is why I use Wifi at home.

The weather and news app are ones that came with the phone, AP mobile and AccuWeather. I did add Google Current. As to sync, AP mobile is set to manual refresh, every 4 hours for AccuWeather, and enable background sync for Google Current (there is no time option and I disabled it now).

If you look at the cs below, you'll see that the WiFi is always on during the night even tho it's set to "Never" on the WiFi sleep settings.:thinking::thinking:

PS...If you look at the graph below, during the night it drained about 20%...I still think that's a lot drainage.

One more thing, after the battery is fully charged to 100% then unplug the power cord, does your battery goes to 99% immediately?
