This kernel is no longer supported. Do not use.

Triggerhappy kernel for JB 4.2 is up!

Compatible with CyanogenMod AND AOKP now! This uses the modifybootimg method to allow compatibility between custom roms. Special thanks to tdm for allowing public use of his method.

Remember to wipe cache and dalvik. I have not changed the script to do that for you yet.

(insert standard disclaimer here; ie. I am not responsible for anything you do to your own device). If you run into any problems, I cannot troubleshoot without logs.

ICS Kernel
JB 4.2 Kernel

My source can be seen here.

Based off the official CM kernel.

OC to 1.8 GHz

GPU OC to 306 MHz

[ICS only]
Tweaks to ondemand and deadline for smoother performance. (Still working on them for JB also)
[/ICS only]

Governors:
Interactive, ondemand; conservative; performance

Schedulers: Noop; deadline; CFQ

Recommended settings: Ondemand and deadline. Don't put max to more than 1.5 if you value your battery life.

Bugs:

None that I know of.

Changelog:

2013-03-07

JB v1.3: CPU overclock to 1836 MHz; reduced GPU OC to 306 MHz; removed brightness tweak (it wasn't doing anything); added entropy depletion patch

3/4/2013

JB v1.2: Increased GPU OC to 310 MHz; fixed choppiness.

2/24/2013

JB prealpha v1.0: OC to 1728 MHz; GPU OC to 306 MHz; lowered minimum brightness level.

2/20/2013

Alpha V2.0: More work on GPU overclock. Tweaks to ondemand and deadline to increase performance and add some butter to overall user experience.

2/15/13

Alpha V1.2.1: Fixes to GPU overclock.

2/14/13

Alpha V1.2: Reduced CPU overclock to 1728 MHz; really overclocked GPU this time; lowered minimum brightness level

2/7/13

Alpha V1.1: Added more frequency hops; overclock GPU; tweaks to ondemand for better performance and battery life.

2/5/13

Alpha V1.0: OC to 1.8 GHz

Pre-Alpha 1.3: Initial release

-update 2/2/13: changed update script to wipe cache and dalvik while flashing

more coming soon...

***Special thanks to:***
tdm, death2all110, neph81, and playfulgod, for our unlocked bootloader, root tools, and continual support to this community.

Thanks to azoller1, Bionx, and dcaugust for being guinea pigs in testing.

If you wish to use my kernel for development, feel free. All I ask is that you say where you took it from and link back here to this thread. This also helps comply with open-source kernel GPL requirements.

I had been thinking about that too. I guess just to put it out there, I had also thought of seeing if the gpu could be overclocked. Would anybody be interested in that?

I know mt built in some gpu overclocking with blitzkreig. IF you can do it then you definitely should. Battery life isnt an issue for me because I work at home and i'm always near a charger so as much overclocking as you can do would be great in my opinion.

Also I know mt stopped his kernel mhz at 1836 because he couldn't get his cpu to run anything higher that was stable, but I think it would be neat if you could pump it up to 2000 at least because you never know, there may be a few random people out there that can actually run that and it would be neat to at least have the option to try it.

Basically the more options that you can integrate into the kernel, the better.

Just wanted to give everyone an update. My finals finish tomorrow and after that I should be able to really get into some hacking with my kernel. I've merged tdm's changes into it and am still working on some more governors. Are there any specific governors or schedulers you would like to see?

Smartass V2 has always been a favorite of mine.

This looks good, was going to build a kernel, but you took care of it! Keep it up! Hope you put oc'ing of GPU and CPU.....:)

I merged tdm's OC code. I'll have to do some serious learning and studying to get the gpu OC into it.

So, plans for right now:

Governors:
(Some combination of) Interactive, ondemand; conservative; smartassv2; performance; lagfree; any other suggestions I get will be considered.
Schedulers: Noop; deadline; sio; vr; additional suggestions will be considered.

OC to 1.6 GHz

GPU OC pending.

It would be nice to put a decent description of more or less what each governor does, maybe a chart even =-O

Same thing on the I/O scheduler.

As for enhanced charge rates, if I remember correctly 650mAh allows the spectrum to charge with 4G and GPS with Google maps and satellite view active with the screen on, and does not get super hot. 700mAh might be perfect...

I think that a GPU overclock should not be more than a modest 10% I'd you do get it going, that will be more than enough to heat this phone up, especially when summer comes around again.

Perhaps something using the voodoo kernel from Supercurio? Simply some of the best kernel tweaks and mods I have ever used. I'm not sure if it will work on the spec or not but since we're throwing ideas out there...

This is the site: About | Project Voodoo

Yes. Voodoo made the fascinate so much better. Audio drivers were so much better than any other phone I've heard.

*update*

Just got the first alpha build compiled. I haven't done much but I want to make sure it boots before doing much more. If all goes well, I should have a kernel zip for you by the weekend. It all depends on if I can get the script written right. Also, I was wondering if you all would like a different boot splash image instead of the LG one. Any suggestions?

A different boot splash would be cool. Maybe one of the newer LG ones or a simple android
