Archos Gamepad - wave of the future?

Had to happen sooner or later, check this out about the Archos 7" Gamepad/Tablet, likely coming to the U.S. as well...

Watch out Sony and Nintendo, here comes the Archos GamePad | Digital Trends

My 2 cents, this is the nail in the coffin for the Playstation Vita, and dedicated handheld gaming devices. It's only a matter of time before you get more tablets and phones set up this way.

This looks cool.
The current problem i have with playing games on my phone is that it doesnt have buttons which makes the controls a little more difficult.
If we can have something like this, the gaming industry would totally change...
If we already have FF and stuff on android, what mare could happen if we have gamepads?!

The problem I see with android gaming devices (this and the ooya) is that the hard ware keeps increasing on each new release so your games are going to require more and more power.

Where as a platform like the PS2/3, Xbox*, DS or whatever has a very fixed hardware setup and it doesn't change. So a game made at the release of the console/handheld will work on a model made at release or 3 years later and a game made 3 years later should work on a unit from launch or current (there are some times this is not the case, but it is an exception not the rule).

I would love to see ooya and this take off and allow for more indie development. But I see stuff becoming too outdated too quickly.

Sorry for reviving an oldish thread, but saw no point in creating a similar one. Anyway, did anyone order one of these gamepads already? I tried to order one today via Archos' website, but apparently it's sold out and won't be in stock until later this month (Dec. 18th). Would like to see a review and hear from people who've bought this device.
