Root Somebody please help me!

Hello, I am completely new to this rooting and s-off thing, and I took a stab at it and my phone is totally screwed. I was attempting this method.

How to Get S-Off on HTC Evo 3D using Wire Trick! – [Juopunutbear S-OFF] | HTC Evo 4G Hacks!

This is what I am getting from control bear:

======== ControlBear 0.6 beta for JuopunutBear S-OFF ==========
Rebooting from bootloader
Waiting...
...Waiting
Detecting...Starting up......
Connecting to device...
Searching device.....
Connect device and install drivers
Press ENTER to exit.....

On the phone screen, it says juopunutbear, with a green arrow pointing down to a picture of a phone.

I tried rebooting my phone, it goes to the bootloader menu, and when I select recovery, it just goes right back to the bootloader menu. I have no way to connect my phone to my pc to add files, I have no way to do anytrhing really. Please somebody tell me I didnt brick my phone, and there is a solution. Thanks in advance!

Removed your battery for a min and put It back on, reboot into the jomb... Screen and let the HTC drives install and try the wire trick again!

I cant reboot into anything. When I power on the phone, it goes right to bootloader screen, and I cant get anywhere else from there. Even when I select recovery, it just reverts right back to the main bootloader screen. When I plug my phone into the computer, it charges the bettery, but I cant access the sd card. Whats jomb? Sorry, I am completely out of my element right now

I had the same issues the other day and the people at the IRC channel were very helpful. try this out Unlimited.IO go look at the part that says "ROM / Data Recovery" I did what it says and BOOM, my phone went back to normal. Hope it helps. :)

I dont seem to have a command prompt in the folder that I extracted it to. Could you pm it to me?

Dang. I'm sorry it didn't help out. ):

If you're really stumped go ask in the IRC channel. Just make sure you have all the info like what rom, computer OS, and what exactly you're doing. They'll help you out nicely. :)

make sure you are using the correct controlbear.exe if your not using the right one that will be the error you get that happen to me the first time.

http://unlimited.io/downloads/jb/shooter/ControlBearRelease_shooter_ICS_VM_WIN.zip thats the virginmobile one that I used and worked perfectly

Just looking at the link name, I don't think this is the correct one for VM. ShooterU is for GSM phones. I would hate to cause a brick using the wrong software

The Evo V is a CDMA phone (Shooter) as opposed to ShooterU.

control bear never asked me to do the wire trick, but I have tried it, and it just reboots to bootloader. I still cant get past that point

What Drivers do you have installed? From HTC Sync? Or somewhere else? You are rooted on the stock rom?

Have you disabled any potentially interfering software such as htc sync, iTunes, antivirus, etc etc...?

It definitely sounds like a driver issue. Can see that clearly from the OP...
Searching device.....
Connect device and install drivers
Press ENTER to exit.....

You can alternatively try these drivers.

Can you say that you have verified everything on this list:
Step 1 | Pre-requisites:

  1. Supported Operating Systems:
We only support Windows 7 32bit or Ubuntu 12.04 (and newer) 32bit, you may use a LiveCD if you have the wrong OS installed natively. Win XP 32bit might work for you but we do not support it as we did not test on it.
Windows 8 (64 or 32), 64bit Windows, 64bit Ubuntu, Ubuntu versions lower than 12.04, Virtual Machines and Mac's will NOT work - we will not help you if you break your device!
  2. Be on the Stock RUU and be rooted (have superuser flashed). No other ROMs are supported, Fresh ROM will not work regardless of what you have read elsewhere.
  3. Ensure that your battery is fully charged.
  4. External SD card (2GB - 16GB) in your device.
  5. Perform a full backup or replace your SDcard with one that you are willing to wipe - it is possible that during these steps all data may be lost.
  6. You must UNINSTALL HTC Sync and any other phone software on your computer prior to running ControlBear.
  7. If you're running Windows you should disable any Anti-Virus or Anti-Malware software prior to running our tools, it may interfere with ADB.
  8. You must be directly connected to a USB 2.0 port on your computer. USB 3.0 and USB hubs will NOT work.

Step 2 | ControlBear:

  1. Verify - You are on Stock RUU (not FreshROM, Stock Rooted, HarmonyROM - none of these will work!)
  2. Verify - You are HTC Dev Unlocked
  3. Verify - You are rooted (rooted is not S-OFF these are two different things)
  4. (Windows) Install these HTC drivers and reboot.
(Linux) No drivers or additional libraries are needed for the supported version of Ubuntu.
  5. Turn ON USB Debugging on your device (Settings > Developer Options)
  6. Verify fast boot is turned OFF (Usually found under Power Settings)
  7. Connect your device and set to "Charge Only"
  8. Download the correct version of the tool for your HBOOT and OS:HTC EVO 3D cdma (shooter)

If everything here is verified and correct then I would use their IRC help chat: Unlimited.IO
as they will be the best source of info to get any issues beyond that sorted out!

I am using the shooter version, specifically for the VM evo v cdma, with ICS. Now i guess the battery dies, and I have no way of charging it. I plugged it into the wall and into my pc and I get nothing. Looks like Im making a trip to best buy today. Merp

With the phone dead, I think you should be able to charge it in the wall outlet.

OK so all this time, I thought I had Windows 7 32 bit, just found out I actually have the 64 bit. I feel so stupid lol. So, step 1 is not done, and I dont have Ubuntu. I am downloading it now. Hopefully I can pull out some magic. Dont really know what to do thouigh. Maybe thats why the drivers arent working as well?
