Please help, I have set up a Yahoo Account on my Galaxy Y Pro and can't see a way to sign out, it looks as though it's always 'live', is that how it is?
Also if I delete an email on my phone does it delete on the computer, I think have seen on some posts that gmail accounts do this but can't find an answer for Yahoo mail.

I have just upgraded (moved sideways?) from a Mini to the Y Pro and am really pleased so far but can't get any help apart from you guys as I live in the boondocks in Spain!

Thanks in advance

For me I have the option to turn my Gmail account off through my phone settings but then again. Gmail came with my phone so I just turn the sync off if I want it off.

If you installed the app then go to the app settings and see if there is an option for auto sync or auto sign in see if there is an option to turn it off. Its always on for easier access. Like I can log ontogmail.com and it brings me right into email without having to sign in. They keep it on for this and many other reason.

Now depending on what email you use yes it will delete email if you delete it from phone. If you use email through Microsoft. (Outlook express) or through ur internet provider then yes it will delete from ur computer since it uses it HD as your inbox and many other things

Thanks for your reply, I didn't load Yahoo myself and it's not in the apps. Where you were asked to sign into the email (Google Mail) it gave you the prefence to choose your own mail client and I signed into my Yahoo email and that's where I am stuck, I can't sign out and don't want to leave it signed in all the time.
Perhaps I could delete what is the factory set app and reinstall a Yahoo Mail app of my own which I would have more control over?

Bit of a pain really!!
Thanks

Did you set up the account in an app, or in your phone's settings (like you would find for your Facebook or Google account)?

In my phone's settings, when it invited you to sign into gmail it also gave you the option to sign into a different email account which I did and signed into Yahoo and therein lies the problem!
On the previous reply I have asked if I could just get rid of the email phone's app and reinstall a Yahoo mail app which I would have more control over.

Thanks for taking the time to reply

Why don't you try installing yahoo mail app like you said and see if it over rides the default one. Also is this device rooted. I know when I rooted my phone it opened up a whole new world of options.ill do know this when I sign out off Google through a browser it also kicks me off on my phone bit its because I'm synced. Try logging yourself off through computer then check on your phone if it picked up that you signed out. It might be as simple as that. Deff try the app thing see if it over rides the default or like you said just delete the default one if you know what your doing . I do know if you delete default Nd don't replace with another your phone will have major problems starting up

Nope, signed out of Yahoo and it has no effect on the phone, funny thing is I have the account set never to update and it has still updated itself with four new emails in the past hour. Only good thing is that I can delete from the phone without it affecting the computer.
No the phone is not rooted and I don't know what I'm doing at all regarding tha, unfortunately I don't have any help much here either, so that's unchartered territory for me!
Will try downloading the app tomorrow.#Thanks for your help.

Lizzie go to your setting On phone and see if you have the option "account & sync"
On my prevail I have this option it lets you see the accounts that the phone can sync too. If you do have this option then go into the account and sync option then hit the add account button and add your yahoo account to it then click auto sync off on phone to keep you signed out when you don't wanna be signed in.

Get back to us well figure this out.

Thanks very much, I am sure this option will work as I can totally see the sense in it.
I have done as you said but when I enter my email address and password I get a message saying it cannot log me in as the email address, password or settings are wrong. I have tried several times and the email address and password are definately right but I have no idea what they mean by settings.
I will have another go later and let you know how I get on but am off to work now.

OP, are any of the steps you took to get this set up to begin with listed in this Yahoo support page? If so, which ones did you perform?

Mail Help | - SLN3668 - Syncing Yahoo! Contacts with Android

No, none of the options on that page are how I set up the email account, when I got the phone last week on the second of the home pages it showed a filled screen inviting you to use Google/gmail when you entered that it gave you th option to discard gmail and sign in with your usual email account which is where I signed in.

Thank you

"Sign Out" is a choice at the bottom of the mail.yahoo.com webpage.

I prefer the Yahoo mail website to the app. I like the format of the website better and the website has no automatic sync or notifications, just manual access. So you can stay logged in and have no activity unless you request it.

OP, did you disregard the Google sign in? Assuming you did, maybe that's why you can't sign out of Yahoo? I'm just theorizing here, but you could always add a Gmail one, then try removing the yahoo one.

Yes, I disregarded the gmail sign in because it gave the option to do so and to sign into your usual mail, mine being yahoo that's what I did. And am suffering the consequences.
I am wondering if putting the phone back to factory setting would be my best way out as I have only had it for a week?

It's very possible that a factory reset would cure it, provided you don't log in with a yahoo address again. Have you thought about first adding a gmail account, and then see if you can log out once there's a second account in place? Our did you try that and I missed it?

OK, I give up, I have tried all the suggestions above, I have added a Yahoo account but there is no sign out there either only a delete account but that doesn't get rid of the emails coming through.
I have added a gmail account and all it now shows is a 'combined inbox' showing gmail and Yahoo.

I am hurtling towards a factory reset!!!!

I have no page like that on the phone :(, all I have is a screen like this

Inbox Drafts Sent Trash

my email@ yahoo.co.uk Yahoo

Load more messages

From the page on your screenshot it looks like tou have originally accessed Yahoo through an internet connection, I set my Yahoo account up on a prompt from the phone.

Loosing the will to live now!!
