Help Back to Gingerbread from ICS?

Probably not stock ICS as I don't believe the radio files would play nice, but you could always try. I've never found the reason to give it a shot as I wanted the newer radio.

By "stock ICS," do you mean the official V7 update? What about a debloated version like this one from micromod?

Or would it be more advisable to try one of the other custom ICS ROMs like Icy Fusion? (I understand it's possible none of them will work.)

Stock meaning anything based off the V7 update. It's not to say that it won't work, but V7 in itself is very badly put together. We're still finding errors in their scripts while we're trying to fix CM9. CM9 is not based off of V7 and should in theory work find with the GB radio files.

Best thing I can say is try and flash a V7 rom with GB radios. If it works, cool, and let us know about it. If it doesn't, same deal, let us know so that others can learn from the experience.

Thanks so much, Neph. You've been awesome!

Just to inform you & others & add context, here's the reason for my inquiries: I purchased my Spec to have it flashed to Pageplus. I'd seen a video of it on Pageplus & running very fast internet speeds (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-70SGy8mtxc). Well, once it was done, I found out that it would in fact only do data at 1x (worked out to about 120kbs in the real-world for me).

What?! Didn't make sense...until I realized the youtube vid showed a Spec on GB, prior to the ICS update. So my conclusion was that ICS somehow messed w/ the phone so that it wasn't capable of doing full-on 3g (anymore). Thus, my intention to go back to GB.

I have 2 hesitations however: (1) relatively minor - I prefer the look & feel of ICS, so if it doesn't work on the GB firmware I'll be bummed; (2) pretty major - it's already flashed & I'm not sure if going back to GB (via the cab) will screw up the current flash which, apart from the 1x data, is working perfectly.

So, that's my dilemma. Hopefully it helps...in some way haha! :p

If you flash back down to GB, you will almost certainly have to go back to PP to have it flashed. I'm not sure how they are doing 3G on it thou, unless they are flashing NV and provisioning it that way.

PP = Pageplus

I don't know what they are doing to provision the phones, but it sounds like they are just adding in the needed info into the NV memory. This info here is mainly for flashing to a different carrier.

Hopefully soon, I'll be posting an update on this thread on my progress (not completely there yet). Thanks for all the support, Neph & Spec community!
