I have no idea how this happened, but yesterday the phone was fine and charging and today it is stuck with a scrolling message
Incoming download mode
polling get_oemsbl_mode = 1

I have not tried to download or access any ROMS or to get into CM7 whatsover. This is just a plain vanilla Motorola Triumph that I've been using for months

I tried removing the battery and reinstalling but the message repeats
I'm not interested in CM7

How can I get back to the vanilla Triumph without losing any apps or data ?

remove your battery while the phone is unplugged... then put the battery back in. then when you go to boot the phone back up, be careful to not push any other buttons besides the power button. if you accidentally push the volume keys with the power button it will take you into that (download mode)

Removing the battery and reinstalling what?

Your problem should go away by removing the battery. Make sure the phone is unplugged. Try taking it out and holding down the power button for 30 seconds. Then power the phone back on and make sure you are hitting only the power button (and not any volume buttons).

You don't need to reinstall anything or change any settings, everything should be as it was.

Edit: darn ziggy, you ninja! :p

When I said reinstall, I was referring to the battery
Didn't realize this would cause so much amusement
But all is well now

No, I was just confused because you said you were not trying to change anything, so the statement about reinstalling something threw me off. And the entertaining part was because ziggy posted the same response while I was also typing it up, but I was just slower. :(

Glad you got it working right again.

I am working on a motorola triumph for my daughter.. I don't know what I did.. but now it's stuck in downloading mode... no matter what buttons I push it goes into download mode..

Simply trying to power it on, makes it constantly vibrate, and start download polling.

The buttons are not stuck

I replaced the /MOBILE/image/ folder contents with a clean image.. and it did absolutely nothing...

any suggestions? thank you

I have a few ways of getting back from this but most of them involve very difficult methods and some kind of backup.

First, there are a few mobile/image zips floating around, I know that a couple that I tried didn't work, and got stuck either blank screen vibrating or polling no matter what. Make sure that all of the files are not 0 KB after you transfer them, sometimes when you unzip they will not unzip properly, and also when you copy them there may be an error that is not seen. Also remember these mobile partition backups will reset the recovery to stock. So, after you restore the files in the folder replace the recovery with your favorite custom recovery. Make sure to remove the battery for a minute or so before trying to do anything, just to be sure. Then replace the files in the image folder.

This is assuming you have a good Triumph to use and you can get in to recovery. The simplest way, I can think to do it, would be to update your recovery to b_randons newest 6.0.?.? on both phones, it backs up the mobile partition when you make a nandroid. Make a backup to get back, then wipe the good phone and start fresh with any ROM and then make a nandroid backup. Use that backup on the phone that won't boot, then to restore the mobile partition go to backup and restore>advanced restore in recovery and restore the mobile partition.

This may not help but was something that ran through my head when I read the post. As this should reset the filesystems.

When you get your issue worked out I would suggest following this guide [GUIDE] Triumph Backup/Restore through ddrescue

Good luck. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

The files I am using are from a 6 barcode backup of the /image/ files. This is a 6 barcode Triumph. It's still doing the download polling boot loop with vibration. If I press up and power on, it does not vibrator.. but goes into download polling boot loop.

Ok, I just made a zip of my mobile partition with CWM 5.0.2.7. I am not sure if it will help but here you go. The files you posted are different sizes than mine.

BSydz_Triumph_Mobile_Partition_with CWM-5.0.2.7.zip

If you hold Vol up and power, it should boot normally. Which in this case, is going to polling. The only way I know, to see if you are in download mode, is by connecting it to the computer to see if, in Windows you see the mobile partition, or Linux you see a bunch of partitions. In this situation, no matter what buttons you use you see polling, when it happened to me, I had to use Vol down and power to get to actual download mode.

First thing after replacing the mobile partition, is to go directly in to recovery, Vol up and down then power, if it will. Then, factory reset and flash a ROM. You have a better chance of getting in to recovery than the OS, since you know the recovery is good, but the system may have something wrong. But, that is just my theory.

Good luck, hope this helps.

Appreciate your help.. but it didn't work.. no change.. I have access to a linux system.. and I'm capable of seeing all the folders within the operating system.. but I don't want to try to restore anything that way without some type of walk through.. Can I attempt to flash a rom that way?

I personally have a moto triumph .. Should I try to revert mine to stock and repair the internal files? arg.. this is frustrating.. To go from working perfectly to download pooling

Straight trying to power on = Download polling + constant vibration
Power + Up + Down = Download + constant vibration
Power + Up = Download polling
Power + Down = Download polling

Ok, try one more time, this time delete the image folder and replace it with the one I posted, and also try the folder from your good phone. Just to get a bearing on the situation, what ROM was on it, and what were you doing at the time when it happened? Also what ROM is on your phone? So, I can give you more precise direction. I would definitely recommend backing up your good phone, then flashing back to stock and following my guide, just so you always have a way to fix your phone, if anything happens. Once you do that I can walk you through what to do with the phone with issues. Basically which partitions to swap and which not to swap.

It had the VM stock rom! I was only trying to put cwm, and I had done so before on 2 other MTs.. so I wasn't expecting an issue.. But I used a terminal command to copy the recovery (Which I had done on a 2nd MT flawlessly).. and that's where I think I screwed up.. Perhaps copied it to the wrong area? Nothing else has been done to the phone since;.. it's been stuck in download polling since.. and since I can access the files.. I'm not giving up yet.. This was suppost to be a present for my daughter.. and this the 3rd triumph I have bought off ebay.. the other 2 were bad.. I have an MT, and her dad has an MT. Maybe if I locate the recovery file that copied over to somewhere in oblivion that will help track the problem..

I used a terminal command because at the time I had thought the port was faulty.. but it's not.. I just have to hold the usb port on the phone

OK, so if you could post an example of the command, it may help. The backup thing with dd_rescue will work, I have done it a bunch of times, and have to use 2 different phone backups for my dev phone, cause I messed that one up and had to use partitions from my good phones backup. And when all else fails after you have a dd backup of the phone you can flash an nb0 from one of the sister phones, this seems to fix anything, and use the dd backup to fix it. Like I said, I have a few ways of getting back but they are not for the faint of heart. But if it is dead then there is nothing to loose.

Ok well.. I thank you for the effort.. but I think I'm throwing in the towel.. which really sucks.. cause I already paid for her service!

But I can no longer access the files even though the phone boots up.

Anyone want to sell me a MT with clean esn cheap? :(

Have you duble checked the USB cable? I know it's a long shot, as I think you would have tried the cable on the good phone, but I'm just hoping.
