From 100% to near death in 18 minutes!

This was on CM7 test ROM B.I feel that there is an issue in the newer CM7 ROMs that won't let the battery charge correctly.When I did wipes on the ROM cache and battery stats I still get issues.

This is from my new battery that the phone said was fully charged when the phone was off.It shut off once in the 40 some minutes that it was on.

This was from my older battery that I had fully charged.It had a sharp drop then it recovered but twice the phone shut off saying battery was dead.


What would 1.cause the phone to not charge the phone properly and 2.would cause the phone to say the battery is dead when it wasn't?

Have you tested this on another load of the ROM? That's a crazy drain. I have test ROM loaded on my DEV phone now so I could test the camera and stuff. I did notice the processor stays awake all of the time, but dag on. Like I said before, I think the DEVing will slow down a bit during the hollidays.

If it's not the ROM, then it might be a battery to phone connection issue. Look for a discoloration at the terminals. I would say to use an eraser to clen them, but they are so small that I would be worried about damaging them.

The phone is a replacement I just got like 2 weeks ago.Checked the battery and terminals on them are clean as well as on the phone.Like I said I don't think the phone is really charging the battery at least not while it is off.Idk if it's the ROM or the phone but yea that is super crazy fast battery drain.But it also looks so funny it's like going down a little then alot then BOOM off the cliff!

I don't think it could be the ROM as it is outside the "off" space. I do remember seeing some of the images somewhere, but I can't remember where that was.

It's not what you say but how you say it.

Looks like a hardware issue to me.

I think it is the phone itself.When I charge with the phone off no matter what battery I use I get 3 hrs or more out of it but when I charge while off it's like instant death.Also whenever the phone would shut off from it saying low battery and I turned it back on it was still at 0%.....but get this I decided to boot into CWM after getting the 0% reading and I was on it for 30 minutes...never shut off.But when I rebooted from CWM I kept getting 0% and instant death.It's like the battery has life but for some reason when I turn on the phone it's not realizing it because I can rin CWM no problem whenever the phone says 0%

Be careful, CWR doesn't have the safety features that the OS has. It will kill the battery beyond a charging point. If I'm right, the phone has a charging controller hardware that should run outside the OS. Have you looked at the battery voltage? Tried to monitor it while it ran? I might be able to look at it later tomorrow morning. I'll try to come up with a strategy to diagnose it.
