I just got married and my old e-mail address had my old last name, so I created a new gmail e-mail address reflecting my new last name. Is there a way to use my new e-mail address on my phone as my primary account (I don't mind doing a factory reset or anything) without losing my paid apps.

In other words, is there a way to transfer my paid apps, contacts, and data (like the calender) to my new gmail?

Thanks ahead of time!

If you were using the Gmail calendar, you can do an export from the old and import into the new (at least you can on a computer; then syncing on phone should line things up).

I don't know how/if the Play store will let you switch primary accounts, but if not, you can just Add an account (your new one) and start using that. I have a work gmail and a personal gmail both tied to my phone and depending on which apps I need, I just switch out accounts.

There's probably a better solution  but at least you know you have a workaround.

BTW - congrats on your marriage!

Contacts/calendar is easy. Just export and reimport them. I don't think there is a way to transfer apps bought. I would be interested in hearing if they say yes.

You can keep the 2nd (Older) email address on the phone just for the apps. It doesn't hurt having more than one on the phone, just be sure which future app purchases go to the new email address.

And congrats on the marriage.
