New To Rooting Need Help.

what up people i need some help. its my first time rooting my Tmobile G1 but i dont know were to start. i keep searching up stuff and roms and im confuse. there all different. How do i do this? What is the latest Rom? Im currently on build number DMD64. i got my G1 before it even came out and soon its going to be upgraded. Im thinking about getting the nexus one but i wanna learn how to root this G1 for now make it faster cuz its to damn slow on me Lol. but seriously people need some help any suggestions i would appreciate it. any links step by step instructions would be nice. thanks
