Root Volume Down + Power = No Service or WIFI

Rooted my phone and later restored to stock and notice that I did not have cell service or wifi. Tried several things and decided to root my other One V and place it in diag mode to read it and compare values on both phones. So the plan was to root it and install msl reader so that I could use the diag mode, but now it has the same problem. So here is what I have done.
1) Plugged in phone to computer with all necessary drivers and HTC application installed.
2) Noticed I had four bars of service and connected to wifi. Phone is stock and working.
3) Unlocked bootload - HTC Dev
4) Flashed recovery - openrecovery-twrp-2.3.1.0-primoc
5) Booted into recovery and installed CWM-SuperSU-v0.99
6) Booted into system, everything is still working (cell service and wifi),Probaly should have turned fastboot off but I forgot to do that.
7) Held down volume button and watched it go to vibrate and while still holding the volume button down pressed and held the power button. The screen dimmed and the restart counter began counting down, when the counter hit 2, lost all bars of cell service and now have an X above the empty bars.
8) Let go of button before reboot, service did not return, rebooted phone and still no service or wifi. Wifi can be turned on but does not see any access points.

What I have tried.
1) Relocked boot loader
2) flashed original recovery to phone
3) Loaded RUU_PRIMO_C_ICS_40A_Sprint_WWE_VM_1.08.652.6_Radio _1.00.00.0521_2_NV_VM_3.46_0503_PRL61008_release_2 62414_signed, completed without problem
4) Tried factory default
5) Turned on airplane mode and rebooted phone, then turned off airplane mode.
6) Loaded a VM, Verizon & Sprint PRL

Solution: Put the back cover back on from when I put the SD card in to load the CWM-SuperSU-v0.99. So this is embarassingly simple solution, but I believe on the first phone this happened too, it had been rebooted a few times with the cover off and still had signal, then suddenly lost siginal. Rookie mistake i guess.

I have a Virgin Mobile One V. Added gmail account and downloaded an app. Phone had a few bars for service. Everything is working.

Unlocked boot, flashed openrecovery-twrp-2.3.1.0-primoc for recovery, booted into recovery and installed CWM-SuperSU-v0.99. Booted into system and everything was good. I held the down volume button and watched the volume go down to vibrate and pressed the power button, the bottom buttons flashed a few times and the screen dimmed and began the countdown to restart. At 2, I observed all bars for cell service disappeared and a X appeared above the empty bar location. I let go of the volume and power button and the phone did not restart, but now I no longer has service. A few restarts later, and still no service. I flashed a prl which did not help and have restored the phone with a factory RUU and have not been able to receive service or connect with wifi. The wifi supposedly turns on but does not see any access points. The kicker is that I have managed to do this to 2 One V phones. Anyone have any suggestion? I need some help here.

Did you accidentally turn on airplane mode? I've done that countless times. Also, have you tried running an RUU?

Okay, head to xda and grab an ruu. Not sure what's wrong with your phone, but I've never had that issue with it...

I hope the ruu can fix it. Oh before you do that....flash a new rom perhaps, and see if that alleviates the issue.

After flashing the RUU, I tried cm-10-20121218-UNOFFICIAL-primoc & SuPrimo_v23.0 with the their respective boot.img and did not have any success.

So even after the ruu, your phone still had no signal...? Relocked bootlosder and all?

Stupid question, but the bottom cover is attached, correct?

Yep, I flashed the stock recovery from the RUU, relocked the bootloader and rebooted the phone and started the RUU process and it completed just fine, but the phone does not have service or wifi.

I have tried a sprint, VM and Verizon prl but for some reason there is no service.

Perhaps I'm mistaken, but it does sound that your phone has an issue that is beyond me. Can you connect to WiFi, or do no networks connect?

I cant connect to wifi or receive any cell service.

This is beyond me, sorry. I would suggest contacting Virgin Mobile, and see if perhaps they can suggest something. The ruu should have fixed it...almost sounds like a hardware failure, sadly.

I appreciate the attempt. Maybe it is hardware, but I managed to do this to 2 phones and the second phone only last maybe 15 minutes out of the box. I have to wonder if some how I turned off an internal radio when I was rebooting the phone by holding the power button when the phone was on. I don't know.

Thing is, I've done that multiple times...I just did it as well, to exactly what you did. No issue on my end. It does indeed sound like internal hardware failure, unfortunately

Guess I am lucky. Again thanks. I plan to keep searching the internet for a fix if it exist.

Not sure if the wifi & cell radio are combined. If not then it would be unlikely both went out on two different phones.

Does anyone else have any suggestions?
