Help Free converter for adding Dvd files ripped to pc to Nexus 7?

Can anyone suggest a Free converter for adding Dvd files already ripped to pc to Nexus 7?
Got to be free. And simple to use. Thanks.

If you have the DVDs ripped to a file on the PC you just need to copy those files into the Movies folder on the N7. The built in player is a bit restricted in what it will play, but MXPlayer or (my own favourite) the XBMC beta will play just about anything.

If you want to stick to formats compatible with the built in player use HandBrake to convert the files to x264 format. The latest versions of Handbrake have a two built in conversion options for "Android Mid" and "Android High" (medium and high quality respectively). Note that converting videos is going to take a long time (1 to 2 hours per video) unless you have a very fast PC.

That's my advice too, although I prefer MobiPlayer - purely a matter of personal taste. The Nexus 7 has lots of space so I'd recommend the OP downloads several video players and see which he likes best.

Regarding files ripped already to pc.
They are in a folder and called audio ts and vido ts Which am I actually adding to the nexus then?

Ah, the DVDs have been ripped as a DVD image rather than as a single file. Presumably the folder structure looks like:

[HIGH]
Film name
|_audio_ts
|_video_ts
|_video_ts.ifo
|_loads more files
[/HIGH]

If so you only need the files in the video_ts folder, But I would copy the "Film name" folder (and the folders/files within it) to keep this organised. NB the built in player will not play DVDs ripped in this format, but XBMC and MXPlayer will.

So I copy the whole film folder over to the the video folder on the nexus 7?
I already have MX Player thanks to these forums

Yes. I'm not 100% sure how you then play the film because I've never used MXPlayer to watch films ripped in this format. With most players you can "play" the film folder or the video_ts folder and the player will look inside and figure out what to play. You may need to go into the folder and play the video-ts.ifo file.

Thanks man. I just downloaded Freemake. Stuck "Diehard" into my PC and hit convert to .avi. Only took 18 minutes and 1.8gb (took almost as long to transfer it to my Nexus 7. Looks great on my N7 (except doesn't fit screen, probably because it's only 480). Just curious if avi or M4v is best. None of my DVD's are Blueray.
