Help Documents to Go problem with Evo 4G LTE

I recently upgraded my HTC Evo 4g for a 4G LTE and am generally very pleased with the trade. the new phone is lighter, faster, and has better battery life. However, one of my favorite apps doesn't work.

Documents to Go, which I use periodically to sync certain Office files between my PC and my phone won't connect with the LTE. Apparently the problem is that the App installs on the the phone's internal memory, which is designated as the SD card, while the PC desktop top looks for the phone App on the external SD card, which is now called ext_sd or sdcard2.

Because of this issue, the PC and phone cannot connect and no file synchronizaiton is possible. DataViz, the creator of the App, apparently has no clue.

Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

You have a few options.

First, don't connect as usb storage.

Depending on whether your running ICS or JellyBean and your pc's os version, select media sync for ICS, the other option for JellyBean, and it should show up in your file explorer on your pc.

If not, grab Airdroid, it works great, and post back version info for both your phone and pc.

I gave up on docs 2 go about a year ago when i bought a tablet, and switched over to a combination of sugarsync and Office Suite Professional. Sugarsync installs on both my computer and my Android and stores my files on their cloud.

It can be used to either remotely retrieve the docs for modification on my phone, or actually download the docs to my phone. Then when I finish editing the doc, it automatically syncs the changes with the file on my computer.

I say to use office suite professional because it is the only doc editor that I have found that is compatible with sugarsync. Sugarsync is free, and office suite professional is preinstalled on some devices, and was once the faotd on Amazon (if you have a collection to retrieve from).

@ Early, apparently there are a ton of freebies today - Amazon's "FAOTD Greatest Hits"

What do you guys think about the negative views on the permissions it requires?
I think they are just ignorant. Not to be taken as an insult.
Below is the explanation of the permissions as explained over on the developer's website:

How OfficeSuite uses the granted permissions on your phone?

  • Read SMS or MMS - Used for opening documents attached to MMS messages.
  • Modify/delete SD card contents - Used for saving files on SD memory cards.
  • Prevent phone from sleeping - Used for keeping the screen from sleeping (e.g. while running a PowerPoint presentation).
  • Reorder running applications, retrieve running applications - If a document is opened from external file browser and you try to open it via the file browser in OfficeSuite, the task is switched to the already opened file.
  • Read phone state and identity - For reading the device IMEI which is used for generating a unique license key for OfficeSuite.
  • Full internet access - Used for accessing the Internet (e.g. while you open a remote Google Drive, DropBox or Box account).
  • Manage the accounts list, use the authentication credentials of an account - The Google accounts registered on the phone are used for access to Google Drive and thus user does not have to enter the account credentials in OfficeSuite.
  • Automatically start at boot - Used for file search in the OfficeSuite file browser.
  • View Wi-Fi state - For Reading the device Mac address which is used for OfficeSuite license key (for tablets or devices without sim card).
  • Control vibrator - Vibration is used for user feedback in some cases.
  • Discover known accounts - Used for access to already registered Google Drive accounts.

Well, there's only a couple hours remaining, but if you get this message in time...
Just go onto Amazon, then on the left side of the screen click "Appstore for Android" and "Apps" (you may also see a big ad at the bottom of the popout that is a direct link). Then on the right side of the screen you will see what looks like an ad, that says "Free App of The Day Greatest Hits". Click it and you will see them all.

Maybe this link will work... Amazon.com: Apps for Android ... Nope
