Root Question about factory restore/removing CMW

Hey guys, so I just did this guide " [GUIDES] Downgrade ZVD/ZVC To ZVB/Emer. PB Recovery " to restore to ZVB successfully, and updated to ZVD succesfully with the LG Update Tool.

However, I noticed my previous apps WERE STILL THERE!, even my WiFi access.

So how can I be sure CMW, root, and all my data is truly removed?

I noticed Quickboot would not work because there was no root, but I factory reformatted anyway successfully through the main phone options.

I still would like to know for sure, CMW, root, and my data is completely removed.

PS: this is a phone I plan to sell, and I see in the "About" section that my old phone number is still there. Not sure if that can be removed, but would like to know.

Thanks for any info.

Try booting into recovery manually by holding power and both volumes up and down while the phone is off, then hit the power 3 times when prompted, if it goes and factory resets the phone that means the custom recovery, in this case cwm, was removed. Your phone number will stay in your phone until a new one is programmed into it.

All of your apps and stuff were still there because you gotta do a factory reset after you do the downgrade. Upgrading the phone wipes everything but when you downgrade, your manually entering the info for the phone.

If you want to make sure everything is gone, just upgrade back to ZVD and it will completely erase everything.

I did upgraded to ZVD after downgrading to ZVB, and my apps were still there. I only removed those apps, and my wifi acces after doing a manual Factory Reset through the phone options -after- upgrading to ZVD.

However, even after a Factory Reset, I can still see a folder created by CMW inside the Micro SD card, as well as an old Whatsapp folder in there too.

I check to see if I can get into CMW manually, like SuperUser mentioned (thanks!), but was unable to do so, which means that maybe CMW was removed.

I can delete those folders inside the Micro SD card manually, but I remember being able to reset the Micro SD card to factory folders through an option inside CMW.

I would still like to have a way to remove all for sure, including CMW, but I guess manually deleting those folders inside my Micro SD card will do.

Well unless you wipe your SD card, everything will remain there including the CWM folder. Wiping data wont touch your SD card. If you downgraded and upgraded and factory reset the phone then all youll have to do is delete whatever folders you choose off your sd card. But CWM works off more than just whats on the SD card so even if you left the folder on your SD card, CWM is not there.

But if you wiped data and factory reset the phone after upgrading like it's suggested in the "Upgrade thread", then your apps should have been deleted.

Did it work?

I'm also going to resell my LG Esteem, and will wipe the phone tomorrow.

Yes it does, all I did was follow the guise posted above, and after that I was able to use the "Format" option within the setting of the phone itself safely. In that option, you can also choose to format the internal SD card as well, to remove folders created by apps, or whatever you stored there.
