Help Screen display problems

Hi folks, first time poster and first time owner of an android... it is a second hand SF, rooted and re flashed with Cynogenmod.

I purchased it for next to nothing with a known fault that it occasionally, had a narrow greeny-blue bar across the top of the screen, this I could live with.

Over time this has progressed to a flickering area of greeny-blue that is spreading down the screen. I took a screen shot of the fault and found the picture to be perfect, no greeny-blue bit, which suggests to me that this is a display hardware problem rather than software.

Do the experts here agree that it is likely to be hardware and therefore repairable?
I have no problem with taking it apart to replace the LCD display if this is the case.
Your thoughts and comment would be appreciated.

I found this YouTube movie which shows the same fault as I have with mine.
ZTE Blade (Orange San Francisco) OLED screen problem - YouTube
The replies are
"I replaced my mother board" and " I phoned Orange for a replacement".
The original you tube poster never said what he did.

Having seen the movie do the experts here think that replacing the LCD screen will be the answer or is it likely to be a waste of time and money?

Do you sometimes feel like you are talking to yourself.....

Yes I do, have you something more to say to me?

I do, I have found elsewhere that the fault is not uncommon on the OLED displays and is due to a hairline crack, temporary relief can be gained by warming the phone up, so when I am at my desk the phone sits on the modem, when I am out an inside pocket for good body warmth fits the bill.

So, is that your problem solved?

Well... not quite, though it makes the phone usable it is not always possible to keep it warm enough. it is still in my mind to replace the screen.

What will you do then?

I think it best to quote myself to see what forum members here think.

Fingers crossed then........:)

All the time :p

Yeah.....Although I used to post here, I gave up due to the attitude of certain Mods, who seem to want to show their autherity by infracting ppl for the most rediculous reasons.

Anyway, don't have the good old Blade anymore, but I posted a tear down video a long time ago, showing everything.

If you can locate it, it was very good, not mine though, some other genius :p

I may have posted it on Modaco, can't remember.
