Due for an upgrade the end of January (currently rockin' an Incredible 2), I am leaning towards the Razr Maxx HD. Really the only thing holding me back is the camera as I use that a lot but I don't need "perfect" pictures. I am also considering the iphone 5 but not sure I want to make the switch from Android to Apple.

How bad/good is the camera on the HD?

Don't get me wrong the pluses definitely outweigh the negatives on this phone. Just because it doesn't take studio quality pics doesn't mean I would give up the phone .... ever!!!!

If I'm trying for really really good pics I'll break out toe Nikon. Best advise stop by a Verizon store and road test the display model.

Thanks, my pictures don't have to be perfect but I do use them a lot for work. My Dinc 2 served me well with it's camera so as long as it's as good or better than that I would be ok but if it's worse then that's not good.

I'd rate the camera an 8. It's fine except for low light conditions. In low light conditions you can't rely on Auto everything settings. Got to use lighting correctly and flash and exposure settings.

Go to a Verizon store and play around with the Maxx HD camera. Then play around with the iPhone's camera. I doubt the difference will be noticable.

Go to the Apple forums and do a search on camera quality. I was surprised there were many people complaining about it. Some of the sample pictures that are posted are nothing special, in fact, some are downright lousy.

In my view battery life, radio quality, and build quality trumps camera. Maxx HD has all of those, and camera is decent.

I'm quite happy with the camera to be honest. You'll never get great quality pictures on a phone since everybody seems to be happy with the push for thinness. I've never had a picture to complain about. Low light conditions are okay I guess, grainy pictures with visible noise. But for me, I just want a camera that works. Not a fantastic one. Daytime pictures come out great though, I was blown away with it, considering I was satisfied with my Droid X camera.

However, there's a thread where a lot of us users posted pictures we took with our phones. I've found it for you here, hope that helps you make your decision much better.

I've always been an android user, but many of my family and friends have iPhones. I have to admit that the iPhone is definitely the best camera phone. So I always get annoyed when android users say "well its a phone, not a camera" Well the iPhone is a phone, yet it takes pics/vides that rival some dedicated camera's.

For some the camera isn't nearly enough to switch to Apple from android, but I really wish android would make better camera's.

The blurry cups are moving pretty fast which explains the blur..pics are clear and crisp enough IMO
