Help Nexus 7 video transfer

Hey guys. Had my nexus 7 for a while now and although I have the 32gb version it's packed out with videos etc.. Is there any way of getting them off the device? Do I need to root to do this? As I was thinking of rooting is soon anyway. I have an OTG cable and some space USB drives ready to use. Just wondering if it can be done with the use on an app from the play store and how

Thanks

Just attach it to a PC and delete the files like you would on a flash drive. You might want to first copy/paste the files in case you care to keep them.

With the OTG cable you could attach a flash drive and stream the videos from there. Since you are not rooted, use "Nexus Media Importer" (from the Playstore). That works well.

If they are on Google Play then no, you can't just copy em. I believe you won't even find em. If you're rooted already and they're not play store movies but just on your device, you can copy em easily over otg using stickmount, given your removable media isn't formatted in ntfs.
If you're thinking of rooting to be able to copy stuff over, forget that. Your device gets wiped in the rooting process. You'll have to use a pc as go-between.

Is the only way I can transfer them over via OTG is to root the device first? Or is there a way to get the onto a USB device without rooting? The videos are just on the device so if I root they will disappear. This isn't a problem as I can get them back. I was thinking of rooting anyway.
