Root Really Bad Battery Drain

i guess i was a little vague lol but what i mean by crazy battery drain is say i could try to check facebook or text someone and itll drain my battery like 10% in only 1 or 2 minutes my screen isnt usually on, i have it set to turn off after 30 seconds and lately the only things ive actually been using my phone for is to either text people, listen to music, or check facebook and it just seems to be draining my battery waaay faster than it should be

How long have you been on this rom? And I assume the kernel is the one that came with the rom?
If you have been on the rom for only a couple days, give it more time for the kernel to settle in.
After that, if the battery life still stinks, then either A: flash another kernel, or B:flash another rom. Not all rom/kernel combos act the same on different phones.
What other roms have you tried?

ive been on this rom for about a week and a half and im on the kernel that came with the rom, the only other rom ive tried is MikG's 3.11, and about the screenshot of the battery graph, i have no idea how to put a picture on here ._.

When you flashed the ROM did you wipe cache/dalvik before and after, did you wipe the data/system prior to flashing??
Are you using an RA based recovery or ClockWorkMod?

I would suggest switching kernel to one of classic/underworld. There are others, anthrax or lionfish for example.

nope i started from scratch on this rom, the batterys fine when im not really using my phone but once i do anything it just drains it alot

Is it an old battery? Could be an idea to replace it if so.
Or else as suggested try a different kernel and see if the drain continues

ok so i flashed it aaand so what will this do/do i have to do anything??
Just leave it run for a few days to see if anything changes.
Don't make any governer or scheduler changes until 3 or 4 days from now:) (and no cpu speed changes either) :p
Just monitor how the phone is running, battery life etc.

And it will do it automatically. You need not do anything special or extra.

Edit: let me add to this...you will notice this sbc effect after a night of charging.
When you take the phone off of the charger, it will remain at 100% alot longer than if you were using a non-sbc kernel.
Let me also add, that in order for sbc to take effect, after fully charged, while still plugged in, it will take another 1-2 hours for the sbc to kick in.
In other words, if you charge until the green light comes on and you unplug it, your voltage will drop like it would normally. If you charge until the green light comes on, then leave it plugged in for another 1-2 hours, then unplug it, you will remain at 100% for a longer period of time.

I can attest to that fact as I have used the Mason G sbc kernel while on Decks Reloaded rom.
It was very nice.

Quote taken from here: http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/389360-kernels-dummies.html ....written by some big silver robot :p thanks Ocn!

sbc (superior battery charging):this is a type of trickle charging that is slower in its charge and is best done overnight. it is supposed to prevent that initial 10% drop off charge. the idea is that as the voltage is pushed into the battery while charging very slowly, the battery will stay cool. by keeping the battery cool you will avoid plating where lithium ions are deposited on the anode of the battery in metallic form vs the ionic form. once lithium is metallic, it can no longer transfer electricity so obviously you want to avoid plating as much as possible.

it also supposed to charge the battery past its normal 100%. your battery indicator has a certain value for what it deems to be 100%. however the sbc charge allows the battery to charge past that point. there was concern that the sbc kernel will overcharge the battery and thus kill the life of the battery and or it can cause it to explode. now in the past, if you look around the net, you will see that people were concerned for their phones exploding due to the use of sbc kernels. though there were a few cases (supposedly) of exploding phones early on, there has not been any reported that i know of since. and yes sbc kernels may degrade your battery down faster then non sbc kernels. however, i think that the trade off of getting better battery life is better then having a battery last longer. batteries are cheap these days anyways.
