This phone is not much fun anymore. JB took a lot of the fun out of it...and no word on HDMI output probs, camera probs, no ums storage options, laggy probs, OS update/fix, working smartactions, etc., etc. Seriously, this phone was brilliant when i bought it (ICS), but not with JB, and there seems to be a legion of similar grievances now. So will moto/google come out (like iphone maps) and acknowledge the miscue and fix the JB, or offer to us an option to revert back to ICS? Just tell us something!? It's still a good phone, but it was great with ICS...and a lot more fun!!!

Hopefully, you called moto support and logged it. Talking about it on a forum isn't going to help in the long run. I don't know about legions of people having issues, my take feeling is that the vast majority are just fine. And as a result, the smaller number of people with issues will be overlooked unless everyone calls in to support. That's your only shot.

Apple's Map affected every single IOS6 user. So there is a difference.

I was one of the original people who posted about changing back to ICS. But after a short while any issues (actual or perceived) seem to work themselves out. I eventually went over to and stayed with Nova Prime and now have the phone tweaked in and running exactly the way I want it. I have no problems with lag or battery drain or anything else I can think of. Maybe I'm just one of the lucky ones.

I love this phone. I am however becoming awfully smitten with the Galaxy Note 2! I spent an hour in Verizon the other day talking with a sales guy rocking the Note 2 and it's a pretty impressive phone. I really gotta stay the hell out of Verizon stores!

no problems here. 36+ hours of battery life with mixed wifi/4g usage. you keep complaining about UMS, but I can move files to/from my phone without any problem- both media and data. smartactions works perfectly fine if you set it right. no lag, so I'd suggest checking your 3rd party apps.

I will give you the camera issue tho... doesn't snap very quickly, resulting in a bunch of blurred photos. I paid for "camera ics+" in the play store. it's slightly better, but not by much. I loved the camera on my original droid razr. all things considered, that's the only thing I miss about it.

That's a classic line! :) I overheard this while walking into a Home Depot. A father and his (10'ish) son were walking in front of me.

Father: I really hate coming here

Son: Dad, I thought you loved coming here, why don't you like it anymore?

Father: Because, son, I keep buying stuff I don't really need!

:)

MTP (not UMS) 100% sucks compared to true UMS. No comparison. Moto removed it since they no longer support the lapdocks that needed the drive storage mode for full function of external devices and formats. Media mode is slower, can stop without warning and is picky with files. Not to mention if transferring files, you can do NOTHING else with folders until the transfer is complete. Throw in some computers do not work well with it unless drivers are installed, it is a SUCKY data transfer method. Moto phones used to have a big advantage in being able to use a true universal mass storage mode but is now MTP only.

Added:

It is almost like Google bought them or something ;) Next step, no SD card slot on Moto devices. Why would they not? Other OEs are trying it too and perhaps the current no sd slot devices were all OE candidates to be the next Nexus.... I guess I am joking.

Strange. I've gone through quite a few Androids and this is the best phone I've owned. My only issue on JB is that if I'm listening to music over Bluetooth and I get a phone call, the music starts playing through the external speaker. Also, the stock launcher has some lag, but I prefer Nova. Considering that everything else works great, reception is awesome, and I can go three days between charges, I wouldn't want any other phone on the market at this point.

Follow up: I have contacted moto on several occ, logging a few hrs with the issues I've had with my phone since jb. If you have Win 7 OS or higher, you can mtp file transfer and computer will recogn your phone, it won't on Win XP OS unless you have moto rig up some mtp file sharing software and change some settings on media player. I did a factory reset and reboot frequently and lag still is bad...hesitates on everything...jerky delay in transition. I agree it still is a great phone, and had I not had a months experience on ICS I would make little noise about it. But it was awesome with ICS...best phone on the market IMO (UMS, HDMI out, open file arch, etc). The tricks that made this phone superior to iphone are going away quickly in favor of googles "i-flavored" control tactics. Seems BS to me to change launcher, constantly clear cache, reboot/reset, disable apps, and otherwise reduce the experience just to reduce lag or improve perf. Again, I still like the phone, I just don't find myself loving it like I did. I hope to again!!!! Cmon Moto, pony up with some updates/fixes and go back to UMS...prev poster is right, no comparison between MTP and UMS.

Dude you have a defective phone the lag is not that bad as you described. Get rid of the circle Widgets and disable smart actions actually get rid of anything Motorola and its lag free. Yes we shouldn't have to remove all this why hence my next device is a Nexus. It seems the only way to experience lag free Android is overlay free. Trust me the S3 has lag also and its no doubt caused by touch wiz. Manufacturers need to stop with the overlay and stick to hardware!

I have not had a single complain since JB. I like it more than I already liked this thing! Tonnes of battery life, quick and smooth. The camera is light years ahead of my OG RAZR (that I still have for my business). Though I did finally today get JB on that too :D

I have heard others complain about this, but it is faster than any other phone I have tested, *and* has the best battery life by several miles. I have no complaints, only praises.

Actually I do have a single complaint - no ICE in the contacts (In Case of Emergency). It is still there on the OG RAZR, but not the MAXX HD :-(

My son has a DRM and its smoother than my RHD! Put them side by side and the M is much smoother during all operations like butter! The internals are the same except for the battery and screen. The software is the same so I don't understand why the RHD is so laggy. On one post it was suggested that since the RHD has a HD screen and the M doesn't is the reason why there is lag. Well I owned a S3 for 2 months before I got my RHD and had no problem with lag and it was on ICS. The S3 has the same CPU , GPU, and if I'm not mistaken it has the same screen also. I'm rooted and have a cache cleaner, memory optimizer and other tweaks and the stock M is still so much smoother!

Everything about this phone is perfect. All day battery, build, beautiful screen, radios, nice camera (not the best but takes great pics for me), love the almost stock feel of the software just hate the lag! Seeing how smooth the M is there is hope that a software update will fix this problem.
